I'm sure you could rig something up, my concern would be load stability. The way the bag attaches to the frame would not leave much room in between for meat (almost none). With enough straps you could make it work in a pinch, but it won't be right. I always had to put meat inside or on top...
I got a universal so I could use it no matter what pack I used. I'm kind of like a woman with purses sometimes......I also have used it on a different frame this year.
Buy the most you can afford but have a realistic idea of your needs. I have the Cabela's extreme Alaskan outfitter pack, as well as a couple from Eberlestock, and the Kuiu. Gear changes and something better always comes out as soon as you make a purchase. I started my back pack hunting with an...
I am right handed and use my gun carrier on the right side, but you may have interference with the pistol. I didn't wear a holster on my pack belt this year while using the gun carrier. If you get the universal gun bearer, you can use it on either side, unless you have to have the dedicated...
Her advice was that the big game combos have sold out the past two years, and that they were not guaranteed. From what she said, it sounded like for a first time applicant my odds weren't that good without it. Maybe I misunderstood her and donated $50....
It went pretty smoothly for me. I read, I called, then waited two hours on hold. I talked to a very pleasant gal who told me I would not likely draw without paying extra for the PP. I figured $50 was small price to pay when applying as a party. Now we wait.....I appreciated that I could...
Not sure about the Kimber but too much upward pressure on the mag may bind the bolt by pushing the feed lips up into the action area, keeping you from being able to cycle the action. Something to check before you put too much work in.
I have found this to be a great place to gather info from like minded hunters. I can't count the times I have looked here first for optics, pack and gear info. Thanks to everyone who makes it work!
