What's happening here? (hard bolt lift)

ADG brass is some of the hardest brass that I have ever used which is likely a contributing factor to the issue, but brass hardness is not necessarily the sole cause of the "Clicker" I have had the same thing with Nosler,WW, and Lapua. Measuring the brass new, fired and resized all showed the...

What's happening here? (hard bolt lift)

The issue that I have experienced is that the sizing die does not change the dimensions of the brass. New case at the .200 line measures .545 fired case measures .550 resized brass measures .550. This is particularly common in minimum spec custom chambers. I would agree that if you are getting...

What's your wall tent + entire camp setup time?

I have a 14 x 17 Montana Canvas tent, between the wife and I we can have the tent, 2 double cots, stove, tables chairs etc. set up in an hour. I would personally rather deal with putting up the whole tent rather than putting together the bunk bed cots, they seem to be the most painful part of...

    Outdoorsman tripods/heads

I really like the pistol grip with the panner for my binoculars, it is probably my favorite. Not sure if I would purchase the pan head again if given the choice.

    Lost Spotter

Yep. I feel your pain! I left a pair of EL 12 x 50's on my bumper and took off down the highway, luckily they were found 6 miles down the pavement by one of our employees.

What's happening here? (hard bolt lift)

A click at the top of the bolt can be an indication of pressure and it can also be an indication of incorrectly sized brass. I have several custom rifles that have minimum spec chambers, off the shelf dies do not size the lower portion of the case enough to allow for any expansion and I get...

Seating depth testing - good ES/SD, poor accuracy?

ES/SD is not the end all be all, impacts on paper are the true judge on how a load performs. Chronographs especially cheaper models can be very unreliable. I would load the Bergers with the best group and see how it does at 600 yds. Bergers work good as long as you understand the limitations and...

Lathrop & Sons Experience - Ongoing

Going through the exact same thing right now not exactly thrilled with the service. Up front I was very honest that I was not willing to go through the process with an out of stock boot. First pair of boots showed up 3 months after I initially sent in the tracings ,the boots did not fit my feet...

    Jarbidge trip

What time in May are you looking at going? Do you have any idea where you are looking at staying? Pole creek is pushing 8k so there will probably still be snow early May. You could get from Wildhorse res through gold creek to Jarbridge early May last year. Charleston to Jarbidge may be a no go...

    Lathrop and sons boots?

And that if you just buy the boot, I went the whole process because I am tired of gambling on boot fitment.

    Lathrop and sons boots?

So far the process has been fine as long as a guy is not rushed for time. It's all about how they fit for me, I usually struggle to get 2 years out of a pair of boot hopefully these will be good. I was tired of buying boots only to get a couple weeks on them for a fit issue to show up.

    Lathrop and sons boots?

$980- They are going to go back as many times as it takes to get it right. I purchased a pair of backup boots just in case it takes me a year.

    Lathrop and sons boots?

I started down this road at the end of December, my boots are scheduled to show up on Monday and they had the boots in stock. Not sure what type of timeframe you are on but it may make a difference. So far the guys have been good to deal with coming close to the time frames they stated. I guess...

    Call the gunsmith or not?

The last “well known” gunsmith that I had dealings with told me 18 mos for a build and it took 36. I had asked for my money back and had no success. I finally started calling his house and leaving a message once a week. I finally got my rifle.

    20n29 and 24n41 powder

Those are some very slow powders the 24n41 being the faster of the 2, I have heard of people using the 24n41 in .264 win mag but that is about the smallest. I have been thinking about trying it out in my 30-338 Lapua improved.
