I have been accumulating points for quite some time now with the hopes of starting to draw some higher quality unit tags, however am moving from Washington to Colorado here in August. Decided to save my nonresident points with the assumption these turn into resident points upon gaining residency...
Took me 7 points to draw which was surprising for me; I expected to get in a few years ago. I tend to be the guy that tries to go as far from roads etc. but may change up my style this trip and run the road systems with a side by side where I can to cover a lot of ground. Would be happy with any...
Draw is posted.
Looks like I’ll be in the black hills this fall. Excited to have a low stress hunt. Any advice outside of try to get there during the prime rut dates?
I would love to hear how it turns out. I don’t ever plan on shooting standing with a tripod, but many times a kneeling shot to get over the prairie grass that a prone shot won’t allow for would be what I’m looking for. Or hunting bears in the mountain. Primary use for it is to glass and would...
Tricer releasing a new tripod, the HK. Looks like it has the potential to be a great shooting and glassing setup with the DZ head that’s also lightweight to use in the backcountry. Struggling to find a setup to both shoot from and put my spotter on. Anyone lay hands on the HK yet at a show?
Both owned for several years. Have worked great for me.
Vortex Viper 10x42 $300
Vortex Ranger 1000 $125
Combination with Mystery Ranch Harness $475
All have been used but the glass is in good condition, need to give them a good wipe down. I have the button for the binos somewhere just need to...
My account shows I have an antelope license and my points were wiped out (went in with 5). Think that means I am antelope hunting just don’t know what unit I drew yet.
I think for a lot of guys it’s more of trying to finalize travel plans or start looking for leftover and over the counter tag options in different states more than scouting. Totally understand the situation and making sure the state gets an appropriate headcount.
Pretty brutal it takes this long to get the results but understand they need to make the count. Went into the draw with 5 points for a 700 series. Fingers crossed since tag season didn’t go well for me.
Makes sense being so close to the unit you are applying in. For nonresidents I think it’s more of a have to keep applying to get the tag and work with what you got. Unit I’ve been applying for years seems to have held stable with numbers, but I’m also only there 10 days of the year.
