    Scopes won’t be as easy to pocket as the smaller monoculars, but mainly due to larger objectives and mounts. AGM, Bering optics, Iray, pulsar(scanners). They will keep getting cheaper as warranty runs out and tech keeps improving!

    Not flat out missed but poorly shot and had to be tracked down YES. Grew up with a hunting budget of $0 so had to borrow guns for the first few years where I learned killing a deer with a Simmons scope was messy and lot of work.

    Thermarest foam pad under your normal pad helps. These are cheap! Not sure what your current pad is? Sleeping with puffy layers on helps. Putting a heavy blanket or another bag over your sleeping bag. Using hot hands body warmers in your bag also helps.

    It can be a GRIND, but if you do it right there is only a few slow hours mid day. I only plan all day sits when conditions are perfect, so that helps prevent burnout. Most days the wind forces me to change stands and gives me a break. All day sits I need a back up battery for my phone!

    Neck shot ethics

    I have shot dozens of white tail with a neck shot simply because it guaranteed they would drop where they stood. Never needed a follow up. Good rest, calm animals and 100% confidence I will take it every time if needed.

    I have never dialed, just used hold overs if needed. Most daytime coyote calling success ends up with them in your lap. If I was hunting very wide open terrain/large tracts of public and wanted to shoot them on the drive/walk in, then yes ranging/dialing would be useful.

    Great advice right here! Remote range, volume, and custom sounds are a must in my book. PM me if you want tips on sounds - the factory ones posted here are great, I used them 15 years ago with great success BUT so did everyone else and they quit producing in pressured areas.

    22ARC or 6ARC for coyotes under 500 yards?

    I would do the 22. For thermal hunting I want higher velocity/flatter trajectory and the 22 has the edge. At 200 yards you have a ~4” target you are trying to hit and you are probably shooting 2moa+ at that distance. So whichever gun is flatter I would expect more hits with.
