Cabelas / Bass Pro Gun Counter Rant / PSA

I was at a cabelas this past weekend having the misses trying on a few rifles to see what she likes. Gun counter guy tells me they have tikka lite and superlite and a t3. I ask aren't they all T3X, he says no only the one is a T3. The others are model lite and superlite. Get them in hand, the...

    Picking up hitchhikers

I've picked up a few. Best one was when I was in high school coming home from a house party in BFE. Guy limping down the highway I circled back and picked him up. He was covered in road rash. He said he was riding with his brother and they got in an argument. Said his brother told him to get...

    Waterfowl decoy spread

What area are you hunting? Walk in, boat in, hunting from a boat? If walking in, I'd suggest investing in a jet sled, marsh seat, jerk rig, 1 doz texas rigged mallards and another 6-12 of species in the area. Teal are always good as they are smaller and lighter. The jet sled makes lugging stuff...

Help finding best scanner/copy machine for lots of old photos

Update I bought the Epson FF-680w Very happy I did. I scanned in over 3,000 photos of all different shapes and sizes and qualities. It does them faster than rated on the highest quality 1200dpi. You create a folder including year and can do as many batches in to it as needed, then start a new...

Help finding best scanner/copy machine for lots of old photos

Thank you, I am looking at the Epson FastFoto FF-680W Wireless High-speed Photo and Document Scanning System It's pricey as hell, but I think I might use it and pass it around to some friends and family so they can digitize old photos. Then maybe sell it for a couple hundred bucks.

Help finding best scanner/copy machine for lots of old photos

Thank you, that is the list I found also. Looks like there are a couple good options for speed and scanning both sides at the same time

Help finding best scanner/copy machine for lots of old photos

A question for the brain trust. We lost Grandpa this week at 94. I have always wanted to scan in his photos dating back to 1930. There are thousands of all different sizes and quality, some delicate. I would like to buy a scanner to get them on my computer and just put the different albums into...

    LMM Duramax with 215k miles

I've got a 2008 2500. Was a work truck for a custom farm outfit I worked for. Put the first 90k on it pulling heavy, often over the rating. Lots of rough off road use. It's been mostly a highway truck pulling light loads from 90k through the 275k on it now. Just took it on a 3000 mile roadtrip...

Removing sheaths after years in the freezer

Interesting, I heard there is some flesh underneath the sheaths that needs to be removed otherwise they can rot/stink. You haven't had any issues with smell? Did you boil or do beatles?

Removing sheaths after years in the freezer

I have a skull that had been in my freezer for 3 years. Had intended on doing a shoulder mount, but after seeing prices decided to just to a euro, but never got around to doing it. This spring I dropped it off with some other stuff to a local guy with beatles. He just contacted me and said my...

How do you get your elk racks back home in your truck bed? Tips / Pics appreciated.

If you have the top half of the skull for euro, I set it on the antlers with the skull up in the air. Put a trash bag or t-shirt over the skull and duct tape it, just to keep the sun off it and keep it from stinking for an extra day or two. One or two bungies to the bed or cooler and good to go...

Tikka trigger piece came off safety?

Could you use a small punch and shove it in to spread it apart to slide over the pin? Or regular snap ring pliers might work if you have them

Guys that drive a long ways to hunt, what are your less common(but important) pieces of gear/tools you're sure to keep in the truck?

Empty gallon orange juice jug. And a full gallon jug of water. Stay hydrated and only stop for fuel.
