    Go to knife

The Kestrel Ovis is by far my favorite knife i own. The shape/design/tip make it the best all round knife to debone and quarter that i have used. The handled version is slightly more conformable but i tend to carry the skeleton version with paracord more than anything else. Like Tdot said, I...

    Kestrel Knives

I own the EDC, Ovis, and Mouflon Skinner. They are all very sharp hold an edge extremely well. I typically bring the EDC and the Ovis on backpack trips because i like having two knives. When i do this, I will leave the sharpener at home because i can get through a deer with one knife no...

    All hunters...

Great post- I saw the Nat Geo instagram post and it troubled me as well. We are sorely outnumbered and we are up against ill-informed people who cannot separate emotion from fact. Pretty much every anti hunter I have had the chance to sit down with has left with a different perspective on...

Late Season Idaho Elk - Unit 28

Hey Guys, I suddenly find myself with a weeks vacation after Christmas. Because the time off was not planned and happened so quickly, I have not had time to plan a hunt at all. I am looking at Unit 28 in Idaho for a late season option for archery deer and elk. I typically like to backpack...

    Joe Rogan Podcast

Shockey one was good as well. I have listened to all of the mentioned podcasts and loved them. The Rinella ones are my favorite... He is able to put into words how I feel about hunting far better than I can. His stories are fascinating and hit home.

    Kestrel Knives - any thoughts?

I have the ultra lighter and used it side by side the havalon this year on my buck. I much preferred the Kestrel to the havalon. I like a little more backbone when butchering an animal. I have used it on 3 animals so far and have been very impressed. Its coming to oregon with me for my next...

    Hunting/Skinning knife appreciation thread

I used Kestrel Knives UL on my buck this year. I like it because is weight nothing, its sharp and is sturdier than say a havalon. I like a little more backbone in my knife when breaking down an animal, just a personal preference.

    Kestrel knives

I Would call Nathan and see what he recommends for what you plan to use it for. I believe he recommended .07" and up for breaking down large animals when I talked with him. My .07 has been perfect for the deer I have used it for.
