    Once in a lifetime decision

Great story from start to finish! Thanks for documenting it so well and sharing it. I too am interested in the scope test. Had you dialed elevation at that range with that scope before? Did you enter the 200 yard zero in the Kestrel instead of a 100 yard zero? Not trying to insult your...

Kifaru Warranty Not What It Used To Be

I also believe it is disingenuous to compare soft goods like packs to hard goods like optics. Fabric doesn't last forever, metal, glass, and plastic darn near do if taken care of.

    Game Bag Recs

I didn't know either, so I checked. Wasn't trying to call anyone out, just found it curious they would undercut themselves on Amazon like that. I like their bags a lot for antelope, deer, and elk. Used Tag bags in AK for the bigger critters.

    Game Bag Recs

I just looked at Camofire, and on Amazon. Amazon has the elk bag set for 59.99 plus shipping (62.50 after shipping), where Camofire's sale price on them is $65.99 plus shipping (72.90 after shipping). It sort of makes the Camofire "sale" seem a bit pale.

Have a safe trip. Go get 'em!

    Gear, gear, and more gear…

I know you have rifles listed, but put ammo on your checklist. It seems like a no-brainer, but you don't want to overlook that in a late night packing and re-packing session. Throw licenses and locking tags on there as well. If you have an InReach, make sure to put that on the list, along with...

Christensen Arms Issue or Scope Issue

Coming out swinging on a first post! :-) I noticed a POI shift on my Ridgeline after about the first 80 rounds. It seemed to creep more and more as I shot it. I pulled the stock off to re-torque action screws and noticed a crack forming near the bolt handle inlet. It appeared to have had a...

Best wood stock care in Alaska (wet)

In the barrel inlet, and all over the metal, you can use liquid carnuba wax for cars. Get it warm in the sun, and apply, let dry, and wipe off the excess. It fills in any voids, and leaves a nice water resistant layer.

What time did you shoot your Alaskan Moose?

Mine was about 5 pm, had another bull come in from the opposite direction about an hour later

    Razco new product release.

I was wondering too. They show it in this video really clearly. Genius design (IMHO). https://www.facebook.com/share/r/R3fuYtLkor75S3JN/

Wyo NonRes Antelope & Deer results tomorrow morning!

You are a moose master! Congratulations on that tag! We need to chat about my draw next year. I'm thinking of burning 18 weighted points to try for a cow tag.

Time to Pay Up - A Father/Son Story

Congratulations to the kiddo! I need to start telling my wife "if the boy makes one more basket in this game, I'll have to take him to Alaska". Very clever maneuver. If the boy is handy with a .22 or a .410 he may be able to get a grouse or ptarmigan around camp depending on where you are. Good...

Question for the WY draw expert

Thank you guys, I was looking for that first map and for some reason couldn't find it! I'll accept my shame. You guys are awesome.

Question for the WY draw expert

Touching base again because I'm still dumb. I wish WY would publish some simple things like a map that shows general units highlighted on each species map. I don't believe they have hard copies of regulations any more, but am I reading right that the regulations for this year aren't available...

Burden of Proof - 2nd Amendment

I was pulled out of my truck at gunpoint, multiple cars arrived, turns out another dude lived in the same town, same first and last names, same middle initial, but about ten years younger than me. Totally different physical description. Took about an hour for the cops to tell me what was going...

Put Some Thought into your first aid kit

A small bottle of saline can be used for eye rinse or wound irrigation. Also, Uncle Bill's Sliver Gripper tweezers are small, lightweight, and can save you from dealing with an annoyance for your whole trip. I love the idea of setting out the IFAK before breaking down an animal. Convenient if...

    Left eye dominant, right handed?

right handed with a pool cue. I think I'll try painting the left lens of his shooting glasses and give it another go.

    Left eye dominant, right handed?

Tried to get the kid shooting this weekend and he is cripplingly right handed and hopelessly left eye dominant. I attempted to get him behind the sights left handed and it looked like we were making a soup sandwich. Sounds like we need to work on left hand dexterity and keep trying with his left...

    colorado cow moose

Anyone of you experienced CO moose hunters care to share some info in private? sitting on 16 weighted points and about to give up and put in for a cow this year or next. I've been into more moose than elk some trips in Colorado, but curious about your draw strategies.
