    Current pup is Finnegan. Finn... didnt realize how popular the name is until after I named him. Seems there are four or five in the neighborhood, lol. Our Catahoula cur was named Jax. He was a good 'ole kid.

    So are there birds close to home or are you looking to travel long distance? In my opinion, there is nothing more rewarding than a DIY hunt. Good time in the outdoors with the boys is what's its all about. Birds will be a bonus :)

    The Stevens 301 would be a perfect choice in my opinion. No need to cut down the stock unless your son is super small. Great gun for an 8 year old or 52 year old. ;)

    Agree, I usually opt for the 20. Lighter packing mainly. For bear country a 12 for sure and a large caliber side arm in addition to some pepper spray.
