Did you ever figure this out? From what i understand the X bolt stock from McMillian should be pretty straightforward as far as its inlet and just needs to be bedded. Also, what is the A-bolt stock you found? They are not compatible stock wise. I may be interested in the A-bolt one you found. PM me.
Just so you are aware, I spoke to a rep at Stockys last night. They will have a new M70 carbon stock available this next week. Hopefully that is the case.
Awesome! Makes sense that it came from a compact the checkering and length are different compared to the traditional Featherweight! ....Now I'm on the hunt for one of those!!! Thanks
Hey @stealthgoat that Ranger is a banger!! Sweet little .223!! I have the same rifle in a 243 and would love to find a stock like that. What are the details? Is it a custom stock?
I love the McMillan A3 Sporter stock. If you look on McMillan website or just call them they will tell you what stocks they can inlet for. most of the newer modern shaped stocks can be inlet in for a M70. Looking forward to following your build.

Thought I would give yall an update. I have ordered a Mcmillan A3-Sporter and when it gets here will be sending it off to Kevin Weaver, in Colorado, to inlet and bed my barreld action. Mcmillan recomended him and after discussing my project with him he sounds like the best option and very...
Great question, the plan was to run a Mcmillian but as of Jan 1st they no longer inlet for the Brownings. I did not get a clear answer as to why. The guy on the other end of the phone gave me a few contacts that will inlet a flat top stock but that will basically double the cost!! The two guys...
I am currently getting my A-bolt rebarreled by Garret Preece aka (Preece precision) in Ogden Utah. He has done a few A bolts and has no issues with them. If you care, I am going with a 22” proof sendero lite in 6mm creed. Pretty stoked
