Always enjoy the “what would you carry” threads.
Ballistic gel is not flesh and bone. Bullets react differently depending on where they hit. Carry what you can shoot accurately and then work on speed. I carry a Glock 20 and practice weekly, but if I shot my 9mm or 45acp better, I’d carry that...
I switched a month ago and have taken 2 deer so far. Have to say that I’m impressed. I’m colorblind and have no trouble following the blood trail. Both were down in sight and less than 40 yards.
I’m a former mechanical hater.
I had no use for a mechanical head after a couple deer that almost didn’t get found.
The Hybrid caught my eye after one of the guys in elk camp had them this year.
Bought some and they fly great, same POI as my field points.
So far this year, I’ve taken a small doe and a 200# plus buck. The...
Have a Remington 673 in 300 saum with a Leupold 3.5-10x 40 that points like a shotgun and hits like a hammer.

Black & orange Blazers, orange AAE nocks and standard inserts. Sitting at 30.75”, but can cut to any length.
Looking for $175 TYD
My Eberlestock X2 has flown as my personal item on every flight in the past 10 years weather or not I’m hunting. Been on 6 flights so far this year and 3 were trans Atlantic.
I had never heard of the guy until a couple weeks ago when one of the guys in Colorado kept talking about him. Still don’t know anything about him.
When he wrote that shooting 80# was more important than shooting a heavy arrow, he lost me. Most people I see shooting are trying to pull WAY too...
I retired with a pension at 58. Turned 62 and started SS ASAP. I ran the numbers based on advice from a friend that is an accountant and found that my break even point was 91 years old.
Tomorrow is guaranteed to no one, let alone another 8 or 29 years.
Took a couple young guys, 21 & 25, to Colorado this year. At 63, I found them to be a little immature, the 21 year old in particular. Spent most of their time in camp on their phones and didn’t pitch in much. It’s probably a generational thing. I had hoped for better.
I was a poor blue collar guy with a new family when I found a Remington 788 carbine in 243. Mounted a Bushnell scope on it and killed a truck load of deer and coyotes with that rifle. It was amazingly accurate for a cheap rifle.
