Not no but f@#k no! I’ve lived here 52 years and can’t leave. If it weren’t for out of state tags I likely wouldn’t deer and elk hunt. Only things I really hunt in WA are predators and ducks.
I'm in for replies. I also have this problem with eight or so in a pile. I enjoy bear hunting a lot and can't make myself leave the hides in the woods but I also don't know what to do with them. Unfortunately, I have not kept most of the tags, so there could be issues there.
I have been on more than one Idaho Pheasant hunt where folks were carrying shotguns and slung rifles in case an opportunity showed up. all legal and in the daylight, though.
I'm not surprised. Though not backcountry, I've had several tree stands and cameras stolen while bear baiting in N Id. It always surprises me because it generally has to be other hunters. Hound guys are the worst. N Id scum bags are just as bad as anywhere.
Im 52 and hunt almost entirely solo. I just always have and I have no plans to change. I stay in shape, and plan for all eventualities I can. I think every bodies capabilities and confidence is different. test yourself but don't be stupid. My last dyi backcountry, solo hunt was a ten day ID...
I lost a shot gun once. Remington 870. returned to the truck after a grouse hunt and leaned it against a gate post. took 15 minutes or so to water the dog and stow my gear, and then just drove away. Quickly realized id forgot it and returned 20 minutes later, it was gone. Heavily used public...
Smenning is likely in the Kalispell Whitefish area. The Army Navy stores there are awesome. I have purchased a bunch of swaro there. They will make you a deal and because it’s MT it’s tax free. Big bonus for those of us from the peoples republic of Washington. Added bonus is one of the best...
No sheep tag for me, but a buddy drew a moose tag on his first try. I all but forced him to apply and now will have guiding responsibilities. Stoked to go moose hunting again.
I'll be putting baits in tomorrow afternoon. this is several weeks early for me too, so a bit of an experiment. I've said before in this thread that I historically kill bears around Memorial day weekend regardless of weather, so I'm interested to see how much play I get prior to that, this year.
