does anyone only carry 1 knife for hunting

Custom-ish CPM154 (not 154cm). Typically don't need to touch up while breaking down an elk but carry the diamond stone just in case. I normally need to find a stick part way through to cut on to get the fat off the blade and then keep going. The scalpel blades scare me and I wont use them...

Lightest production 6.5 grendel

+1 for the Howa. Mine is prior to the carbon stock but is the older 20" #1 barrel. If you don't like the mag (factory stinks) there are hinged plate options and others using better mags.

What packs are all you gram weenies using?

SG. Not the lightest but carries weight the best for me and fits me well. My pack more than anything has changed the areas I hunt.

6.5 creed vs 30-06

Both. If I had to choose one for deer it would be the 6.5. If I had to do it all with one, 30-06. The 06 doesn't kill any deader but it normally drops things faster and sometimes that matters.
