I would buy at least 2 if they actually meet the weight target. Not buying if they are heavier than the SWFA 3-9 (21oz). I might consider a 3rd for my longer range rifle but the top end mag is less than desirable for that gun, would prefer 15x or 16x for that one.
Got out and shot the RokStoks for the first time today. Brought 3 rifles.
Tikka .223 lite, RokStok, SWFA 3-9, UM low rings
Tikka 6.5PRC proof prefit, RokStok, NF ATAC-R 4-16x42, MT rail APA low rings (9lbs)
Tikka 6.5CM superlite, wildcat stock, SWFA 3-9, SM rings (7lb)
All rifles are bare...
Limbsaver Airtech 10809 fits pretty good. Could probably be perfect with a little epoxy and sanding but good enough as is I probably will just leave it as-is. I did need to drill new mounting holes in the pad and mill off a raised lip. Could be accomplished with sand paper and a hand drill...
I’m 6 foot. When I had a frontier with a 5 foot box I slept in the back a couple times. Sleeping diagonal my head would just touch one corner and my feet touch the opposite corner pretty good stretched out on my back. Not ideal but I slept fine. I have a Ram with 5’7” box now and sleeping...
It just barely breaks into the barrel channel as supplied, not a big deal at all. If you need to open the channel up, for instance if actually trying to fit a proof sendero contour, then you just need to grind down the corner of the flush cup a bit. I didn’t break through to the ID of the flush...
The recoil lug on both my stocks was proud .102” into the action inlet. The recoil lug slot on my T3 action is .095” so the recoil lug would have prevented the action from fully seating on the inlet. I emailed unknown and they confirmed the lug should protrude .095”. Good excuse to fire up the...
Another pic of the tight barrel channel:
Went to town on it with a socket wrapped in sand paper and a dremel. Much better now.
The fore end flush cup does break into the barrel channel. It was like that from UM but more so after opening the channel. Not a big deal but they should...
A few impressions from installing the action. I received 2 RokStoks on Monday. 1 sendero contour and 1 3b contour. I’ve only installed the sendero so far onto a T3 with proof sendero prefit.
Both stocks are right at 30oz with rails, recoil lug and butt pad.
Compared to a factory T3x stock...
Only you know how your eyes work looking through a scope. Nobody on the internet can tell you if 9 is enough or not for you. Go out and shoot at 9 power at your max range trying to simulate the type of shots you are expecting as best as possible and decide if it is enough for you. 9 is plenty...
Once painted and bedded the wildcat is about 4.5oz lighter than the factory stock. Mine finished about 23oz with a limbsaver airtech using 2 screws and glue to install. The stock has been fine but it is just a replica of the factory geometry so the only benefit is the 4.5oz. I haven’t tried the...
The proof prefit will be heavier than a factory lite barrel and even more so compared to a factory superlite barrel. Likely won’t be any more accurate. I guess if he must have a 7prc and must have it now it’s an ok option.
If he is a grip it and rip it kind of guy he probably won’t be able to...
I’d just have Unknown Munitions chamber an ACE barrel in the factory Tikka lite contour at whatever length you want. It will be lighter than the proof and better attention to detail. Stiffer too if going less than 22”.
I have both. The SM rings are a little lighter and slightly lower (about 1.5mm) then UM lows. The part that clamps to the dovetail is a little thicker on the SM which makes me feel a little better. I’m not sure why UM made the clamp so thin, apparently it hasn’t been an issue for anyone, but it...
I am also interested in the reasoning behind the comb angle being what it is. It is possible to design the buttstock with the height of the pad above bore line, the height of the comb in the area the face rides and the comb angle all as independent variables, though it would need to look a...
