What additional data would you like to see? I can see if I still have it. Of course it would be nice to do a completely exhaustive test, but results are genuinely so bad with all bullets that I’m not sure there’s any conclusion to make other than: don’t try to shoot through the brush. Sample...
There are a lot of good options, and I’ve thought a lot about going that route with the 22cm. In a bolt gun you do have the advantage of loading to 62k pressures, and really, the 22cm just gets you an extra couple hundred yards of range…I think with a good bolt gun load you’d still be at or...
I've been having a great time messing around with the 22 ARC so far and have a couple bolt rifle builds in the works. Here is the full video breakdown of killing a moose with it this year:
I will have a talk through video on this on OL’s YouTube and it’s gonna be a good point of reference to come. My 20” gas gun was giving 2695fps with the factory Hornady 88s and I shot the moose 3 times (which was a mistake, I only should have shot once, but hey).
First shot hit middle of a rib...
I never have, and pretty certain they have never collected plug shavings for DNA in Alaska. If they need DNA, there is usually plenty hanging off of the skull or skull plate. Other places can do what they want, but I have yet to hear a single logical argument to justify requiring the plug in AK...
The only reason we have the plug here in Alaska is because WSF pushed it, and although I’m sure WSF likes the idea of having each set of horns serial numbered and tied to location for eternity, it doesn’t do anything to curb poaching or provide any valuable samples or information to the state of...
My third bear of the spring was a very special one, a nice grizzly I was able to get with a wood arrow and stone point out of my longbow, something I’ve been trying to get done for a couple years...

I wouldn’t bother Bringing any salt. Salting is a last resort in the field unless you turn lips, ears, eyes, and flesh completely...which isn’t easy without a beam. Salting the wrong way will do more harm than good. Let the hide cool, fold up skin to skin, and use the same care you would with...
I would suggest loads with the Lehigh defense extreme penetrator or extreme defense bullets. They give a wound cavity similar to a hp, but penetrate much better. Underwood and black hills ammo have loads with it.

I feel your pain...I have a 32” draw as well, and it is a struggle to find arrows I can shoot with draw weights over 55lbs. As mentioned, the axis 260’s are workable for some combinations, but I ended up shooting off an elevated rest that I back up on the riser to give me another inch or so...
After drawing my first sheep tag for the TMA this year, I was able to take my 12th Dall sheep on a solo walk-in hunt!

It's not really that I'm upset with the commercialization, my problem is with the commercialization that is based on false representation and outright lies. I don't like those tactics in any other market, but being somewhat involved in the outdoor industry, it's especially peeving.
It wasn't...
I am the author and the article doesn't invalidate anyone based on what equipment they promote, how they work out, or how many animals they have killed. Neither is it an attack on anybody directly.
