    makes sense. along those lines, i'm looking at the sitka kelvin vest-my arms don't get very cold plus I also want to use it in the treestand some. I looked for non-huntin companies but can't find one with 170gr of insulation either.

    No decision made yet but thx much for the replies. Uncontrollable shivers...want to avoid that... XD...but I get cold quickly sometimes. In terms of overall warmth, how does the kelvin vest and superdown compare?

    The nano storm is a lottle outta reach right now but that is a nice item. Patagonia is right at the top of non hunting brands it appears.

    Which one, kryptek kratos or patagonia nano puff? Will be my warm layer for stopping on a himing trip and later on used for backpack hunting as well. Temps down to 25 but mostly warmer.

    Icebreaker merino

    Update: 70% humidity, 78 is dewpoint, it's 89 deg right now. I washed it and Ive worn it all day long. It's not as comfortable as cotton or poly but it's do-able for sure. And no odor is welcomed! The big question for me...are their other brands that may be even finer/better?
