    I'd go with the 7x57 without blinking as it's very rare, good 30-06s are easy to find.

    I would look into a used Eberlestock Mainframe with batwings and the drysack duffle if you find a really good deal. Mystery Ranch mentioned by others is good if you can find one within your budget.

    I have a buddy who sewed two lengths of a lightweight strap the width of his bag on the underside of his sleeping bag. It's never been a thing for me because i use a wider pad that I don't fall off of.
