    Stubai tour light axe

It should work fine maybe a bit short depending on your height, I use a BD whippet on my sheep hunts for the same use you describe.

    First time flatlander pack help!

Get the biggest bag they offer and use it for everything, Kifaru especially makes the best designed bags IMO and they compress down to nothing excellently. Last bag i had from kifaru was 7000c and I never wished I had a smaller bag.

Is X-PAC noisy? Your mileage might vary!

Yea its louder then cordura by a small amount, cordura is loud too though so we're kinda picking fly st out of chili here. 500d from kifaru and MR for example isnt even close to waterproof in my experience, water resistant at best. My X-pac bag is still going strong after 3yrs, with some minor...

    Kodiak road system deer

Yea I've done it, might do it again this year. As far as access Id say half of the rd access is controlled by BIA,leisnoi or Ouzinkie. The places that looked good on a map had local hunters, but I ended up just walking in further past them. Cant help on time of year, we slept in a tent the whole...

    Seek Outside Pack Out Experiences

My experience with Kifaru was with their bikini frame and their 2nd gen duplex. The bikini beat the shit out of me on my first packout (one tripping a cow caribou), then I bought a duplex, which was much better but still rubbed me raw on every packet over 80lbs (ie humping meat out). Then I...

    Sheep Hunt Mid Layer

My first couple sheep hunts I packed extra layers and found I didn't really need or use them. Now I use a 150 aero wool(next to skin), windbreaker (Patagonia Houdini), puffy and a rainshell. I bring nothing else except for some lightweight merino long johns. 90% of the time while moving ill just...

Do you keep a round in the chamber?

Didn't read the whole thread but what I did was surprising. Round in the chamber is situationally dependent for me. For example if I'm backpacking and the rifle is strapped to my pack, the chamber is ALWAYS empty until a target is acquired to shoot. If I'm still hunting, the rifle is loaded...

    Titanium cup/mugs

I like my evernew pots. For 1 guy for MH and coffee Id go .9L but you could certainly go smaller. Lid, handles? yes to both. Heres a good selection here https://www.traildesigns.com/collections/solo-pots-1l

Seek Outside new tents coming with Dyneema

The only 2 REAL downsides to dyneema is cost and it doesnt pack down quite as small as silnylon. The biggest bonus to me is the lack of stretch ie you get your shelter taut and it will stay that way. Ive heard folks say things like its not durable and its noisy and Ive found that to be BS. Take...

    Top end bi-pods ??

Im a big fan fan of the Harris bipods, just a real simple design not fiddly and always works. Ive got a javelin too and like it, but if you plan on shooting from your bipod a bunch Id suck up the weight penalty and go with one of the aforementioned options.

    Flat Tires

I carry two plug kits and a compressor along with an extra bottle jack to supplement the jack that came with the car. 8 tires seems like a lot so first make sure your tires are at the correct pressure. Then id make sure you are using correct load rated tires and maybe consider stepping up to an...

    Re-using big game bags

Always wash and reuse, too easy not too. Soak in cold water for awhile, then toss in the wash.

What are your favorite big game harvest bags?

I have some TAG bags that I like. You can also make your own for pretty cheap. The kuiu bags look fine, Id stay away from the ones that have zippers on them, seems like a weak point.

    Meat tarps

I use whatever type of visqeen I have on hand, weighs and costs very little. Makes no sense to to buy a 100$ tarp to just put bloody meat on it.
