I am trying to do my best to manage the bucks on the property and the last thing I want to do it shoot a 160 class 3-4 year old if I can let him grow another year. One more year to let him pass on those great genes so my boys can shoot mature deer.
When I first moved to IL from Texas and jumped into a tree in Nov I froze my ass off. Bought a Heater Body Suit for the next season, have taken many a nap in a tree in weather no sane person should be.
you can layer up for really cold days or wear early season clothes during November.
I really wont know until I get my eyes on him. If he can survive the 2 gun seasons, then its easy sailing since I am the only guy that bowhunts out there. There is a good size chunk of the woods that i never go into just to give em a sanctuary. Would like to give him another year if I could
300 acres, but have a large tract east of me that is full of idiots who's theme is if its brown it down. I agree that he is probably 4 years. If I see him, i will have to decide if i pull back or let him walk I guess. He is 2nd biggest that I have seen on the farm in 5 years.
If he is a 3 yr old that would make a big difference, If i see him on ground I may pass if he is still young. Been on this farm for 5 years and have been holding off on shooting younger buck, may be paying off finally.
this is the only other photo I have that isnt showing his backside.
I am open to anything. First time in CO hunting. Have it in my head to setup a base camp and find 10-12 knarly ass drainages that no sane person would walk into until I am into elk lol.
Though I would bump this thread since bow season is mostly done for Elk in the West.
Anyone here in NIL or SE Wisconsin looking to team up for 2020 CO Archery?

I would be interested in shooting and hiking. I am in Mchenry about 10 miles for the border. I am not a FIB just a displaced Texan. I have a summer house in Lake Delton and hike Devils Lake almost every weekend.
