    Bitteroot Valley, Montana

I was kinda figuring access wouldn't be great. Good thing I like driving I guess! From the few hikes I have done up there there is a ton of dusky grouse in the forests.

    Bitteroot Valley, Montana

My girlfriend of three years and I are going to be moving to Stevi in December. I know there is definitely some people from the area on here, so I figured I would reach out and try to find some like minded people since I know nearly no one in the area. Whats there for 3d archery ranges...

    Show off some mulies!

Most likely! The area is pretty popular so I wouldn't be surprised. I usually have a point and shoot camera and tripod for glassing that I use for pictures, but only recently figured out the timer function on it. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

    Show off some mulies!

2019 Rifle 2018 Archery 2017 Archery Here are my mule deer from the last three years in SD. Been pretty fortunate. All public ground, two archery and one rifle. I need to get better about taking pictures of them I guess lol.

Find me a pair of pants!

I'll take a look at the kuiu offerings. I wish more companies offered the hip zips. Seem useful if you have a warmer pair of pants in cold weather to prevent sweating while moving!

Stone Glacier De Havilland Jacket and Pant Review, by Jared Radosevich

Kinda bringing this one back from the past, but do you have an update for the pants? They were recommended to me recently and seem like they may work well. I am curious, how wind resistant are the pants? What is the lowest temp you would be comfortable using them (with proper layer underneath...

Find me a pair of pants!

Have you had the chance to use them or see them in person? They definitely sound like they could fit into what I am looking for!

Find me a pair of pants!

Hey everybody! I am in the market for a pair of pants to use for later season hunting. I have been using Sitka Mountain pants from August to January and they aren't quite suited to the end of the season (winds >15 mph and temps <20 degrees Fahrenheit). I sweat fairly easily, but understand how...

    Solo Elk Hunting

That's what I do as well. I will only turn it on if there is some technical terrain or deadfall. If it is clear with even a sliver of moon you'll probably be able to see well enough as long as you aren't in a closed canopy forest. Lowest setting on the headlamp if you need it though.

Whats the Worst Shot You Ever Took?

I have two that I am not particularly proud of. Back in highschool I misjudged the distance to a deer at about 30, missed, then it ran to 70. I had time to range it and everything, but it was pretty far. Shot, hit it cleanly through both lungs, and it died after about 100 yards. I was...

    black clothing for western hunt

As long as you can limit your movement in front of the eyes of an animal you should be fine. Try to keep behind cover as long as possible (ridgelines, trees, grass, sagebrush) literally anything taller than about a foot can be used for cover if you are willing to low crawl. As always make sure...

    Backcountry Filming/Photography podcast

I've found there to be a lot of resources for camera gear in the back country but there is little for resources on application of the gear in hunting scenarios, so my questions are more related to the how and not the with what gear. How did you develop your eye for what is a good shot that...

    Trail Camera tactics?

I do at least a photo burst of 2 images, sometimes one picture is blurred or something. Make sure vegetation won't set it off though, you'll get double, triple, quadruple etc. if you set it for multiple. As for locations, I like a bit of everything. Treestand locations, scrapes, food sources...

    Hunting Stabilizer

I'll be the devils advocate and say try to shoot your bow without a stabilizer at all. Personally, I can shoot groups w/ broadheads to 60 that I would be plenty comfortable taking an animal with. Last two archery deer have been at 52 and 51. You may not have to buy one at all, depending how your...

Anyone hunt SD for Mule Deer?

There's definitely opportunity for mule deer in SD. Lots of walking needed. Try and hunt where other people don't, which doesn't necessarily have to be far from a road. There's not really any secrets, just have to get out there to give yourself a chance. Archery for non-res is going to be...

    Solo Elk Hunting

I solo hunted for the first time last year, in Idaho, around opener. My biggest issue was not staying until dark. It was mid-eighties basically every day. I would have no problem getting up early, hiking in the dark, but it wore on me that I hadn't seen much all day and that it was hot out. The...
