2 seasons ago it was -15 on November 7th and on the closing weekend of season it was +40. That same year we got a foot of snow on September 14th.
It’s Montana, you never can tell, especially this year. Just pick the dates that work and come out prepared for anything. That’s the most honest...
FYI I don’t agree with that statement at all. There’s a reason why most new long range shooters continually miss targets on the downwind side, it’s because they under-judge their wind hold.
Go to any long range/precision rifle match and by the end of the day you’ll typically see a trough form...
That’s where mine sat almost the entire time. Everytime I called they said they were just waiting for FBI background check to come back.
Mine was individual.
I've got an Ultra 7, shot it the first time today actually on my 6.5 Creed practice barrel. Pretty damn quiet. Super stoked on it and it's going to be great on my hunting rifle.
Shot a match 2 weeks ago in Utah and Phil Velayo was running one of the Gunwerks 8" cans. That thing was amazingly...
Kestrel isn't going to make you a better wind caller, and I use one of the 5700 Elites with Link. It just spits out answers for you but that doesn't mean you've actually learned anything.
Here's a rudimentary technique for you to try out until you decide whether to get a Kestrel.
I would use...
I feel you on the pic rails coming lose.
When you have your Defiances built do you have them clearance them the extra 2-3 thou to better deal with field conditions?
Send it to me when you’re done with it so I can shoot a couple matches with it and I’ll contribute to the review.
I took 4th this past weekend at Rocky Mountain Mayhem running a Mark 5 3.6-18 and I love that scope. Thousands of rounds through it and not a single issue holding zero or...
Here we go, I'll do my best.
1) There's not a single consensus on getting dope but many practical approaches. I'd start out buying some factory rounds from Hornady and then download their free 4 Degrees of Freedom app (4DOF). Input as many of the variables into it as possible and it will get...
I think it's important that you give out specific details if you're going to pass along second hand information. Leupold had a huge issue with their Mark 6 rifle scopes. It was a known issue, don't buy a Mark 6. But like I said the Mark 5's and VX5's have been great scopes. I have somewhere in...
Honestly the two best words of advice I can give is to find a range local to you and more importantly find a mentor. Number 2 will dramatically reduce the learning curve.
Don’t be afraid to ask us all the other questions, basic or not. I think forums are as relevant as books and they're free...
I'm headed down to Utah next weekend to shoot Rocky Mountain Mayhem and I'm going to meet up with Brian and Mike from Lone Peak. Pretty excited to check their stuff out in person. I'm planning on running the Razor Ti in a medium length for a 6.5 PRC build as well.
While all the other actions...
I got an STX back in December.
I get on targets way faster with a straight. I have a tripod tall enough to use while standing up and I can easily go back and forth between my spotter and binos.
I've used both just prefer the straight.
The only position that I slightly prefer a traditional sporter style grip is standing off hand however I try to set myself up so that the only offhand shots I take at an animal are with my bow.
The vertical grip on the EH1 and many of their tactical line lends itself to allow you to more easily...
Keep in mind no matter what piece of equipment you get, you still have to check your dope.
All of that equipment you're looking at just use a math formula where you input your variables, even Applied Ballistics with their custom drag curves. The variables that you are inputing are the BC on the...
First things first, I'd switch to using Density Altitude to input your conditions. Way easier. I use either my weather flow meter to get a DA or use an app Called Density Altitude +. Either way it's a lot easier than putting in temp, pressure, humidity and all that.
Now when you true'd your...
I agree. I'm all for being different but it comes at a cost. If you shoot as much as you say then it's hard to give up the option of factory ammo. I shoot a 6x47 in my match rifle and a 6.5x55 wild cat in my hunting rifle but when I go to the range to burn 100 rounds I grab the factory creedmoor...
I've been running a Mark 5 3.5-18 with Tremor 3 on my match rifle since last September.
Funny enough my first match with it was a 2 day PRS match and a buddy of mine had a brand new ATACR 7-35. He was having weird issues all weekend. When he got home he determined it wasn't tracking and had to...
