Without knowing the specifics of why you need a 100m headlamp, what about going high power handheld? Keep the headlamp for up close work and navigating but some of the new handhelds are tiny but throw a big, bright beam. Much better lenses than what can reasonably fit on your head plus it will...
Im seeing people post pictures of big bucks in much lower elevations than usual for this time of year. Usually I’m seeing these in November, must be the fire pushed them west and they just kept going.
I just returned my C tag. The Dixie Fire closures where we usually hunt are through 11/30 and I just didn’t have the motivation to scout one of the other C zones.
Contact your insurance broker for specifics on what your auto policy covers (and doesn't cover), or read your policy. Also check the credit card used for renting the trailer, you may have some coverage there too.
I appreciate the honesty and seeing a bit behind the curtain on how the tech giants can manipulate what we see and how you are compensated. Perfect timing for my upcoming 4 hour flight with free wifi (y)

According to the CalFire Caldor Fire map, there is now a massive dozer line directly through the spot I had planned to hunt. Not the general area or nearby, but the exact clearing/drainage I was going to sit on :poop:
Well it depends how you want to use it. For me, I would keep the mini on while actively hunting/away from camp or even just turn it on periodically to check if something came through. I would probably just tell whoever in advance that I was going to turn it off at night and would check for...
I have a 66i and occasionally use an Inreach Mini, in addition to OnX and CalTopo apps. For hunting, the phone apps are lightyears ahead of Garmin. But as a backup nav device and communications the 66i isn't bad. If you keep it off until you need it or at least turn it off at night it will...
Yeah I'm somewhere in plan D-E right now. I've got three C zone and D zone "go to" deer spots that have all burned and was hoping to fill my bear tag there too. Who knows what will happen in another month.
Everything you can see in this picture of Lassen National Park (and the Lassen National Forest beyond) just burned from the Dixie Fire.
This is from July 2021:
I often have issues with sleeves being too short so my usual first order from a brand is a tee and a long sleeve. I got a tee shirt and the plaid button down which looks like a great fishing shirt for only $50 (compared to something from Simms), both in large...
