shooting from your glassing tripod (SLIK MINI)

I used the pvc pipe and pipe insulation setup for quite a while varmint hunting. Was a huge improvement to be able to make good standing shots. but as things evolve, I can say a lightweight pint size or schmedium Gamechanger bag on a plate or even just on a ball or pan head is way...

What size is my chamber? Measuring shoulders.

Scotch tape is about 0.002. A easy check is to add tape to the bottom of the longest case (FL sized with no shoulder bump - it might grow slightly) and see if you get resistance on bolt close. If not, add another layer. Then you can get a headspace measurement, pretty close.

Bullet and powder suggestions needed 6mm ARC

108eld and 8208, 2450fps w/18” barrel. It’s warm for a gas gun but very consistent/great accuracy. Chose 8208 for temp stability as I built it for a hot weather pronghorn hunt for my kid. Total game sample of 1, so it doesn’t mean much but was instant death on a pronghorn @300 yds.

Is Hodgdon load data really conservative?

More common than not, your rifle isn’t going to hit the same velocity as the “book” load with listed charge weight. Your rifle with Hodgdon max charge weight and your rifle with Hornady max charge weight, we know they differ, is your rifle going to run the same max velocity with both? Of...

Is Hodgdon load data really conservative?

Published load data is reference data. Your rifle is different. Hornady and Hodgson’s rifles&components are different. I would look at the load data as pretty compatible. The max velocity is only 12fps different. 2800 is approx max.

    New tricer bipod

I’ve watched all the videos and read the specs and still can’t tell if you can lock the pan out. Looks like it on and cant tightens up with the same knob, so maybe you can’t lock out the pan. Would be nice to know. Also, two leg splay settings or is there a middle one for three total?

Best way to test various powders

I’d load 10 w/each powder, middle of the book charge weights well off the lands. Shoot 10rounds group with each powder. Pick one. Adjust charge weight to hit desired velocity. Done.

    Pratice/technique

My kid likes to rest her hand there, feels it helps reduce wobble. Also really helps hold the rifle straight while racking another round in without breaking position. Her seekins has a harder bolt lift than some other rifles.

    Pratice/technique

It might be easier to just use a bag on a plate. Plate is just a piece of plywood in photo below. Balance the rifle on the bag.

    New tricer bipod

The long leg version looks really good. I’ve been wondering why there isn’t demand for a longer version of the Gunwerks or MTNgear type bipods that go wide. I’d way rather have 25-30” max and a min height of 8-9”, than 15-20” max and a min of 4-5”. No detailed description/ specs though? Can...

Dropping Ball Powder Charges without Weighing?

It’s much faster to just load up the block with 50 cases and lift the whole block up and charge each case direct from the powder drop tube. Move the tray from case to case dropping powder direct in each one until you charge all 50 cases before you set the block down. All of those little...

Dropping Ball Powder Charges without Weighing?

Why are you stopping to check overly 5 or 10th round - surely you aren’t adjusting the measure between charges? Weighing charges of stick powder is generally a waste of time for anything short of long range Fclass or PRS, and weighing ball powder is hilarious.

    Reloading logs

My logs are a mess. Looking to improve, I found this per Fclass John - looks like a pretty slick way to handle log/records. My apple devices are backed up so maybe I will stop misplacing data https://www.fclassjohn.com/videos/v/43wgahh3t54xzwtlh7jz5hbr4wb8bs

    Ideal Western Hunting Rifle

I’d just buy a simple stainless T3x in 6.5cm, and mount a good scope. Then shoot it a lot.

Reloads, just how anal are you?

I think it’s about figuring out/paying attention to what matters more and not worrying about the stuff that doesn’t matter as much. Most folks can really save a lot of time if they can figure out what doesn’t make a difference and stop doing it. I’m very particular about the brass, same lot/#...
