I do still sit and enjoy nature and deep thoughts or even daydream.

A look at Rokslide from the deer stand

I do look at rockslide and a few other forums from my deer stand. I try not to be distracted at prime times so far I have not missed a deer or lost an opportunity for doing so.

Wild game processor within an hour of Saguache

There was also a big operation over in Salida or Poncha Springs which is about 45 min away to the north but again I'm not sure if they're still around but it's worth a web search. Gunnison has 2 but it's a little over an hour to the west.

Mature Mountain Whitetails & Terrain Features

I've found them to like young densely grown pine in old cuts and if there's any kind of spring or clear chute in it they will work the edge. I've also found that the edges of thick alder and willow patches seem to be good travel routes for them. I do find better numbers in the low lying areas of...

What is your favorite long range rifle setup?

My current long range set up is a nosler mod. 48 long range carbon in 300 wm. I have had good success out to 1200 yards on steel with this rifle shooting handloaded 190 grn nosler acubonds and also 178 grn Hornady eldx. I don't shoot at game past 500 yards simply because I enjoy the stalk and...
