I have some packable rain gear. The sawtooth would be my warmest outer layer if I were to leave the puffy behind. Scouting and talking with other people who’ve hunted this area it sounds like it’s a lot of dark timber still hunting, not too much time stationary on the glass like the cold weather...
Im trying to cut some weight out of my pack. Never done an early season hunt like this. Do I need my Uncompahgre jacket for a September 15-23 elk hunt or should I leave it at home. I have a sawtooth jacket and I feel like I don’t need both for early season. Elevation we’ll be at is 5k-8k. I feel...
To add the this point. I would rather have something like the solo and the 5900 than the approach and 5900. The approach just fills up so fast. You better count your ounces and only take what you need. Like the poster above said.

I have the Approach and I’d say go up and get the solo. The thing about these bags is they compress down so we’ll that something like the solo at 3600 cu in doesn’t feel like it when it’s all buttoned up. I bought the Approach first and the solo later on and now I run the Approach attached to...
What do you guys use for organizing your stuff in your packs? I have an SG bag and frame and I’m looking for ideas to organize my smaller items outside of stock off the shelf SG stuff. I have used cheap tool pouches before but I’m wondering what you guys have used to keep your bag more...
I replied earlier. Myself and 3 other guys are using a drop camp service this September. I’d be glad to answer any questions. Just shoot me a PM

Was just up in PA over the weekend did some hiking with my pack getting ready for my September elk hunt. Weather was beautiful this weekend up there. Saw a lot of deer and ran into 1 little black bear no bigger than my lab. I love the Allegheny National Forest

For clothing options that are cheaper alternatives to expensive hunting brands I have been experimenting with the Prana Stretch Zions and Eddie Bauer guide pros. Wow they are amazing for early season. 1/2 the price of the big western hunting companies. They are not as quiet as the KUIU attacks...
I love the solo. It’s just not quite big enough for me for 5+ day hunts. I could probably fit 5 days worth if I really counted ounces and got a little more strict but I’d rather have the bigger bag a carry a few extra pounds. For my current 5 day setup I have the approach attached to the solo...
