KUIU attacks. Just wore them for 8 days straight on an Idaho elk hunt. More deadfall than I could’ve imagined. The only hole in them happened when my uncle accidentally stabbed me with his havalon cutting up an elk. I seriously scraped and scratched them against everything. On brisk mornings I...
Thanks for the reply! I agree completely. it was just odd that the few posts I searched prior there were some echoes of that pattern in particular sticking out.

Really want a Jetstream jacket for out west as well as back home to use in a stand and still hunting. I’ve seen it commented here before that the Open Country pattern sticks out like a sore thumb in a tree. Does anyone run this pattern and can vouch for that? I can’t see one pattern or the other...
How is it during light precipitation? The most recent reviews on FL say it’s a no go for snow and rain? I think this is my favorite jacket of the lot, but I’ve had so much success with KUIU outer layers as far as durability and weather resistance goes. All my bases are FL. I want to give them a...
Just the reviews about the pockets being glued on, wind cuts through it with ease. Also read a couple reviews that said you get soaked if there is minor precipitation. One of my buddies bought one, but it’s still a little warm for him to wear it.

I’m looking again for jacket ideas. Hunting northwest PA in the ANF. We do a good mix of still and stand hunting. I have been looking at the FL Catalyst jacket but the reviews scare me. I am now stuck between the KUIU Axis hybrid, Guide All Season and Guide DCS. Also looking at the Sitka Stratus...
Definitely not. Our legs looked like we were being whipped by an army of people from munchin land. So many bruises and scrapes. A couple close calls sliding off of deadfall after the rain. Cousin almost put a limb through his thigh. Lucky to be in once piece

Yeah the Selway Unit is pretty unique in that you get to carry a rifle during the rut, although you aren’t shooting more that about 50 yards in any area we were in.

Well it was a lot different than I imagined. We hunted the Selway unit in Idaho. The timber up there is so dense. So much deadfall. It took us a couple days to figure out how to hunt them. Still hunting was a no go. I don’t know how you can make it anywhere through that stuff. Moving 500 yards...
Idaho. Was coming to a wallow at about 11am. I called him in and my cousin was able to seal the deal on our first elk hunt.

Heading into the Selway on Friday. Hope that system pushes this stuff out a little. We’re in Bozeman right now and it’s unbelievably thick.

Yeah he gave me some 350gr to start with but told me I maybe want to go up. I’ve fired it with the 350’s a couple times and it’s a cannon.

Yeah I think this gun will turn into my paperwork companion for the walk to and from base camp. I really can’t imagine carrying this thing around everywhere.

My BIL is letting me use his S&W 500. It’s an X Frame with a 4” barrel. Any of you guys carry one of these monsters have a holster recommendation? It’s so heavy. I can’t imagine carrying on my waist belt for miles at a time. I almost just want to leave it at camp and carry spray. If you have one...
Thanks for the reply. I was just looking at the Sitka Jetstream. Seems like the best option I’ve seen by far. It’s real hard to find a perfect do it all outer layer.

During rifle season in NE PA we tend to do a lot of still hunting mixed with 1-2 hour sits. The only days we really sit in a stand are the first couple days of season when everyone is out pushing deer around. I hate wearing bibs for these still hunts. I have not been able to find a pair that is...
Looking for a communicator. DeLorme or Garmin full size or mini. Also willing to trade some gear or clothes if I have something in particular you’re looking for
