    Men’s Mental Health Challenge

Yes getting old sucks! Ask me how I know.. Glad you’re okay. That could have went south real fast. I’d suggest maybe your guardian angels were watching you today. I’d also be willing to bet that more people care about you than you think.

    Venison Heart - Recipes?

Soak in cold water with salt added in bowel stored in fridge for a day or two. Salt seems to help drawing out blood. Slice approximately 3/8” or so and trim away any of the crap. Season and cook with onions and olive oil in cast iron skillet.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?

Over four years ago I was blindsided and absolutely devastated when my now ex-wife emptied our house and bank accounts while I was on a hunting trip. Never even got to say goodbye to her or our two dogs. I swore that no woman would ever get that close to me ever again. A long time friend...

    Men’s Mental Health Challenge

To add. I’m not a “needy” person. But I have my demons. So I struggle. I’ve already shared on here prior. So before Christmas I put aside my pride and reached out to mental health clinics to see if I might be able to start talking to an expert to help me address my issues. Well hell. I can’t...

At what point do you sell / throwout

It’s amazing to me what people want for USED shit… Everyone thinks what they have is priceless. Most times (at least for me) you can go new for not much more in price. That’s why I have a brand new cargo trailer in my driveway as one example. I’m in the market for a 48” brush hog for my...

    Men’s Mental Health Challenge

I believe that I saw very similar last week on tv. Maybe 60 Minutes? They had a group of I believe veterans who were/struggling from PSTD going through this new treatment. Interesting for sure. Glad that helped and I’m sorry the you lost your marriage.

    Men’s Mental Health Challenge

I’m glad you didn’t. But believe me when I say that I fully understand. I’ve been there and more than once. Recently too. I try very hard to visualize my children and grandkids. See their faces… How would taking your life make those you leave behind feel? And that feeling would last the...

    Blacktails in timber

Great write up. I too hunt SW Washington. Big timber is my go to. I really have little patience for hunting clearcuts not because they aren’t productive but rather that’s where 99% of the hunters are. I just have very little patience for that. I think we’re hunting from the same playbook but I...

How long have you old timers been married?

You’re all lucky ducks. I tell my buddies when they bitch about their wives to shut up. I said goodbye to my wife of thirty years a decade ago as she slipped away from me from cancer then lost a wife to divorce four years ago and never even got to say goodbye. I’d kill to have a good woman in...

    Drop camp vs guided

We’ve had several successful out of state hunts on public land that we’ve never set foot on for deer, elk and antelope. OnX has helped a 1000%. Phone calls to biologists also has played a large part. We’ve even called them while in the field. Also hunting forums have assisted but only via pm’s...

    Men’s Mental Health Challenge

I’m sixty six. Always have tried staying in some semblance of health. I joined a gym before Christmas. Go 3-4 times per week. It’s a bit addictive. It’s an “outing” for me that I look forward to. I generally go early mornings. I keep to myself rarely speaking to anyone. Maybe that’s a spillover...

What is on your hunting bucket list?

I’ve been blessed that past few years going on some really fun hunts with my boys, both in state and out of state. More planned. I’d be damn honored if I can get a few more years in just with that and not “species” specific for a list.
