If the idea is to make it cool, boat/car gun and weight are not a major concern, then consider the Aluminum Element 4.0. you can purchase just the chassis block ($375) plus the folding adapter ($145.00) and then purchase if you do not already have a cheap AR buttstock 40-80 and a cheap flat top...
On just the chassis block you can add 3 lbs to a Remington 700 SA Element. That doesn't include adding weights to the buttstock or changing the buttstock to one of our heavier options. Most guys who shoot open light run the Element 4.0 Magnesium with the Carbon grip and carbon buttstock. This...
I would probably go with the 4-32 NX8 or a 5-25 ATACR just to have a little extra magnification. Some conditions like patchy snow make you want a little extra magnification. In Laramie a few weeks ago I shot the entire match on 20-25 power. Vernal was dry but there were some small targets so I...
I would go with option #3 and just get a new barrel. Although this is the most expensive option a good cut rifle barrel will be super accurate! You could also sell the factory barrel and recoup some money that way.
If you purchase the buttstock and grip with the chassis block, we will assemble it. The only things we normally do not install are accessories (excluding folding adapter), so you can install them wherever you want.
Every chassis ordered will have included action screws and instructions.
The Element 4.0 MG with the carbon buttstock, ergo grip, and folder would be 35oz, 33 oz with the carbon grip (2 lbs 1 oz). So it would be a 2 lb difference between the two chassis. * Correction this is the weight for a 700 chassis. The weight varies by inlet.
For a tikka chassis with carbon...
You will need to swap over the bolt stop and get a 3.560" 3006 magazine. Running 6.5 in that mag might require some tuning but guys one here have had good luck! Let us know if you have any questions.
I cant speak for stocks but our Smoke carbon buttstock comes in at 11 oz (with the cheek rest) and 5 oz without the cheek rest. I haven't had a single one returned due to damage or breaking. I have seen a couple of recoil pad screws strip out when guys are installing LOP adapters but nothing...
Great write up and it was great shooting with you man! Posts like this are going to encourage more guys to get out there and improve their shooting skills!
Something to confirm when you are looking for a buttstock we don't sell is the actual length of the buttstock. This will allow you to confirm the LOP is correct for you. Our two carbon buttstock lengths (actual lengths) are listed below for reference.
Carbon 12.5"
Actual length-...
The chassis pages are down right now because of our web host running some updates that basically made our custom coding not work. We are currently working on getting the website back up and running!
The longer Tikka magazine would be awesome! At this time its not something we are working on...
On the chassis side, customers who prefer the ATOM are guys who are shooting mainly off tripods and they don't need the longer forend. The shorter barrel of the Micro lite will make the rifle nice and compact for your backpack hunts too! We have a ton of customers running the ATOM on anything...
