I would take it to a gunsmith to get it out that way you can keep from messing up your action. The other option is a left twist drill bit and be very careful lol.
If anything the slightly bigger mags will help keep the new mag latch protected while going through the brush. With the old latch it was concerning but with the new design its not a concern at all!
Put some soft sided velcro around the magazine and it will take the rattle out. Due to there not being a true spec for AICS magazines, every one of them is going to have some variance so chassis/bottom metal manufacturers have to make them accept all of the different manufacturers mags.
You can check the Berger calculator out if you would like but you should still be good! I haven't seen too many 7.5 twist 6.5s since the 8 will stabilize a 156 at most velocities.
I guess I will go against the grain here because its always a confidence booster when you rezero and you are good to go... I always just stop on some BLM and throw a box out at 100 yds with a good backstop and you will be good to go! CO does have a lot of recreators so look for the good backstop...
I have an 18 inch with an APA little bastard on it but I haven't shot bare muzzle. I can tell you that you want to be shooting the rifle or behind the shooter because its brutal anywhere else... Every rifle is that way with the APA Brakes though.
The vise and tools gives me a little better piece of mind but the quick change feature is cool and seems to work pretty well! I haven't seen anyone have issues with it but its so easy to change a barrel once you have the tools that I always prefer going that route.
This was an issue about 3 years ago but I haven't heard of it for a couple of years now. I just finished up a box of 2700 147s and never had an issue... Don't over twist and you will be good to go!
Not to overtake this thread with a clicker issue but I think a lot of it also depends on the brass you are using and the resize die. If you have some nice and tight resize dies and an appropriately sized chamber you should be fine in my experience! I don't think it would hurt anything to run the...
If I was in your shoes I would go 22" Benchmark or Bartlein carbon fiber with a 1:7.5 twist. The 22 inch will allow you to get plenty of speed while staying on the shorter side of overall rifle length. The 7.5 twist will work great for the 156s but that is also the recommended twist for the 124...
I think you have to have numerous "honey holes" if you are going to get it done year after year. Some years nobody is in a spot and that is your new honey hole. Then the next year its like they gave everyone GPS coordinates on Go Hunt... I have a couple of spots that are that way so I just check...
If money isnt a concern, the Ckye Pod blows the atlas out of the water. Yes they are very expensive but the adjustability and ease of adjustment is great. You can typically pick up a single pull for $500 on the snipers hide classifieds from PRS shooters. I ran a thunder beast bipod for two years...
One other thing to check is make sure you do not have any solvents in the chamber. This can give excessive bolt thrust that feels like pressure. Would have to bet its those cases by looking at your picture but its one that is very easy to check!
15 3/4" is SUPER long so you might want to take small steps up before you go anything past 14.5". Even if you have super long arms the issue is once you get a LOP that long you have to offset your body at a weird angle or just giraffe neck your head further forward than what is comfortable to...
With good brass (Lapua, Peterson, Alpha, ADG) just chamfer, run the expander mandrel and then primer powder bullet! No need to size quality virgin Brass.
For removing lube I throw it in the tumbler after resizing. Depending on how many cases I am doing will depend on how long I tumble it for...
I have all of the limiters at the house and carry this kit while I am in the field. Had to torque a scope back down while I was in the field this year so it kept me from packing up camp and going back to the truck...
