I don’t mean this to sound disrespectful or make it seem like I’m acting tuff. I don’t find the recoil on my Tikka Super lite 300 wm all that bad. Yes, a lighter recoiling gun is more pleasant to shoot but this is not bad. I grew up shooting shotguns with slugs and 3 1/2” turkey loads. I wonder...

I was just hoping this would be a cheaper option than buying a whole new gun. Ideally I would like to just buy a Tikka action.

Haven’t got out to shoot yet. I’m buying several box’s right now to have on hand when I start shooting to see what shoots best.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up getting a Tikka in 300 WM and a Nightforce NX8 2.5-20x50 scope. The first several years we will be hunting larger game in areas with chances of large bear encounters. I will probably get another gun later.

I bought a S&W 10mm to use in Alaska as a backup gun. I went with a Holosun red dot. After about 15 shots with the original screws the sight broke off. It appeared that the screws sheared right off. I looked around on the internet and found some upgraded screws for the Holosun and S&W, after...
If I were to get a 300, it would be the 300 Win Mag. More abundant ammo choices and its a lot cheaper. I don’t know if the 300 mag is that much better than a 30-06 since you already have that one. If you didn’t have the 30-06 I would personally get the 300 over the 06. If you are just wanting a...
I just got a Nightforce NX8 2.5-20x50 for my Tikka rifle. I was going to use low Nightforce rings and their 0 MOA base. The guy at Nightforce said I should get med. rings and a 20 MOA base. I explained that I wouldn’t need that much elevation availability. He said that by having the 20 MOA base...
Looking for a place to shoot out to 500-600 yards. I live in SE Ohio and need a place to shoot within 200 miles would be great. Would like to spend a couple of days at a time getting some good trigger time.

I’m not completely new to rifles. I have a Savage 308 that I have taken many deer with out to 250 yds. I have a 270 wsm. and use to have another 300wm. The 300 Tikka actually has less recoil then my 45-70, 3 1/2” goose/ turkey loads and 12 ga. slugs. I’m just not use to adjusting the turrets for...
Are these ballistic apps really that accurate? I know I would have to practice and double check everything but it sounds too easy.
The reason I’m doing all of this is my son and I are going Caribou hunting in 2025 in the Northern Brooks Range Alaska. I have read that some of the shots are up to...
