I’m gonna get in on this. 34, 5’9 and 225 on the 1st. Getting married and having two kids while getting a college degree, I packed in quite a bit of weight. My goal is 180lbs. So far I’ve been loosely tracking macros on MyFitnessPal and working out on my days off. Workouts are either...
I’m going to use starling brass and it uses large primers. I ended up ordering some CCI 350’s(large pistol magnum) because it’s what I could find in stock. If your going to reload the brass you have you should be able to use any small pistol primer.
I didn’t come from a hunting or gun family but my wife did. We’ve bought 2011’s that will be handed down to each of our kids. I also have a Remington 1100 that is currently ~40 years old that will be my daughters. My FIL is refinishing a browning A5 from the 1930’s IIRC that will be handed...
This is an adl converted to bdl with hs precision stock, bottom metal and timney trigger. The gun does have some extraction issues, it will not reliably pull fired cartridge out of chamber. I haven’t shot it in ~5 years now, but the last thing I tried was replacing the extractor and that...
I ordered the .401. I’ve never had to specify diameter before. How will I know if I need to go up in size? I’m guessing stability issues, keyholing?
Thanks for the info.
Was a success!
My daughter just turned four. She’s been on a couple day hunts with me but this is the first overnighter. Got camp set up yesterday just after noon. Evening hike and squirrel hunt. She had lots of fun walking in the woods looking for squirrels. Back at camp we reheated...
Thanks for the info. Ended up buying the gun today and ordered the brass, bullets and picked up some #9 at y'all's recommendation. Gonna have a hang up in the primer department. I thought I had some large pistol primers but I must have shot through all of them.
I’m thinking about picking up gen 4 G20 this week. I have dies, primers, powder, and ready to place an order on brass. Trying to decide on a bullet. Currently looking at the Montana bullet works 200gr WFN. Looking for experience with these or similar bullets, primarily if there are any...
This and the recent Hornady podcast could have saved me a lot of time and money over the years. I couldn’t say how many times I’ve done the usual load development, found a three shot group that looked good, loaded a few more and had it open up was left scratching my head wondering where I went...
Keeping this thread alive. I haven’t hunted or shot much in the last 2 years but finally got around today to test some loads I made last year for my Tikka. 180gr accubonds, H4831, Fed 215 and new Nosler brass. These are all compressed loads, loaded to factory mag length.
I loaded 3 rounds at...
Yes, t3x. The Warne rings I’m using don’t utilize the holes in the receiver top, the previous leupold ones did, which is why they were removed. That’s helpful to know that there weren’t actual screws there to begin with. Maybe I can track some of those down and put them in after I get the...
Nightforce SHV and Warne rings came in today. The original rings on the gun were put on by the shop I purchased it at. Removed old rings and found that I’m going to need the original screws that were in the receiver top(pic below), but can’t find what size they are. Help would be much...
I bought a couple cots last year to use in my tipi. I don’t have experience with that one, but I did consider the cabelas one your talking about. I ended up going with this:

Only slept on it a few nights last...

At a normal-ish price. This stuff shoots great in my Ruger American.
