My cousin's son picked up a new Lift with 80# limbs that cracked after a few hundred shots. He swears he never once dry-fired it. He loves the thing... except for those broken limbs. lol
Rolled pickups, near misses with rockslides, yak riding, snow leopards and wild Ibex? When do you plan to go on an actual adventure?
Man, this is like a fantasy. Truly exceptional. Thanks for sharing!
The early BRO video (actual DVD) called "Uncommon Ground" was the single best elk hunting video I've ever seen. I don't follow much on YouTube, so I don't know about their newer material, but their first few offerings were worth watching, all sissy tears aside.
I'm not a welder myself, but I work with a crew of them every day. One thing I've learned about guys who weld: each of them is the best welder ever in history of welding (just ask 'em), and anyone else who welds sucks balls at it. This is apparently a golden rule amongst those who weld.
Howdy, folks. I have an enormous collection of hunting DVDs (100+) that I'd like to store on a hard drive of sorts so I can get rid of the original discs and save a bunch of physical space. Ideally, the video files would be transferred to an external hard drive while retaining the original...
Here are a couple of Federal Trophy Copper 30-06 in 165gr recovered from the offside hide of a bull moose I killed last September. Shot was 75 yards broadside and quartering away. They did quick work. I didn't weigh them afterward, but they appear to have retained most of their original mass.
I have a TiGoat WIFI with the spark arrestor at the end of the pipe. It's given me no issues, even when burning lousy Brooks Range firewood. I would add a second arrestor to the top end of pipe and see if that makes a difference.
I think this really depends on the class of river you're planning to float. I've only done three floats now and have only used the Levitator (which you can rent if chartering out of Fairbanks). But I'll say this: as a relative novice in rafting, I wouldn't want anything less than a Levitator in...
@Broomd, what's your take on the prognosis of GTE in the nearish term? My other oilers have perked up lately, but GTE is spinning its wheels. Is this more of the old GTE, or is it a temporary lag before it climbs back to the $2ish range?
The vertical zipper on the front pocket is a deal breaker for me. I get that these harness designers are splitting hairs to be distinct from the others, but I don't see the upside to this variation. I carry my bow release in the front pocket of my harness, and when gravity does its perfect work...
I was shorted at least 90% of the backstraps on a moose by a butcher in Fairbanks. They also knifed open every game bag instead of simply removing the meat like a civilized human. I was told they fired the guy who had been cutting game bags. But the owner refused to speak with me about any of...
Appreciate the continued guidance on this one, @Broomd. It's carried my personal account to prosperity despite what seems like a slow bleed everywhere else. Thanks again, and happy birthday to you, sir!
You can see the backstraps in this photo as I'm tidying up the meat. I recall them being more than 4 ft long and at least 25 lbs each, but I can't say for sure.
I'm trying to find some way to place a value per pound on the straps, but I can't find a good reference. I'm thinking it should at...
Have any of you recorded actual weight measurements of an average bull moose backstrap? I have a "situation" that isn't worth detailing here, but some firsthand actual weight measurements of a pair of 50" AK Yukon bull moose backstraps would be appreciated. Thanks for any info you can offer.
