living in N.E Ohio I have to drive about an hour to get to moderate hills. So I did my basement stairs today up and down 100x, with a 25lb pack. That’s 750’ of elevation gain and loss in 45 minutes. Best I can do for my area.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone!
I’ve never tried these, but Iooking at the design I can’t see packing out 2 quarters at once comfortably. Not to mention for 99% of hunters putting that kind of weight on yourself can cause a serious injury. My thoughts anyway
Squat, deadlift, incline bench 135lb x15rep
1 round mini leg blaster
18” box step ups holding 20lb dumbbells
for 2 sets of 20
Finished up 1/2mile on the treadmill 15degree incline at 2mph (sucked good)
I don’t want to discourage you from hunting in Montana but you may want to Consider a state that has OTC tags for archery. At least then you know that your going hunting.
Well the wife and myself just fully recovered from Covid, it feels good to workout again. Ran 1.5miles on Monday and got a good leg workout in yesterday
Mtwarden would your granite peak tripod fit the bill? I know you showed it in your lightweight pack thread. And I like to bring my own snacks/meals. I just know what I like and need calorie wise, not just little debbies and bags of chips 🤦♂️
^^ I agree with you go4thegusto I hunted with Mel my first year and had a great trip but that was the last year that Mel owned it (2018). Now one of his former guides (Casey) owns it, we hunted with him in 2019 and it the most unprofessional/ass backwards hunt I was ever on.
Incline bench, squat, deadlift
135lbs x15 reps 1 round
Mountain tactical institute
Full leg blaster workout 1 round
Walked my basement stairs with 40lbs 10x
Incline bench
Squat
Deadlift all with 135lbs 2 sets of 15 non stop rotating to the next lift. I was pouring sweat than did a bunch of different lunges and box step ups finished with a 1 mile treadmill walk at 9 incline and 3.3mph
Finally got a tag after 1hour 43 minutes.
I don’t hate this system it’s basically like a draw but you get know “immediately “ if you are hunting or not. Wish some other states would let you know as fast
I haven’t posted my workouts for a while guys but I’ve been keeping at it and reading yours for Motivation, got back from Colorado Sunday with a nice otc/diy public land bull that I worked my butt off for!!
a little over 30 total miles and some steep elevation gains but we got it done
