New sight or new bow
I'm shooting a V3-X with a 405 grain arrow at 60 lbs and 26.5" draw. Speed the last time I checked was 262. So, you could do better with new gear on the speed front. I have not needed to use the Fast Eddie Triple Stack slider at more than 20 yards yet but it is nice. Up to 45 I need do... -

I had something similar happen with the 108 grain ELD-X out of a 6mm Creedmoor. One antelope, center of chest, 100 yards. Dropped, got up, spun around and ran off. Never found her. Later, I shot another one at 275, same bullets from the same box. Center of chest, bullet penetrated a total...- kcm2

Heck, at 400, my 270 will take out anything in the lower 48 with ease. 130 Hornady CX Superformance, and get out the skinning knives. -

Lighter recoiling elk rifle
Decelerator or Limbsaver pad on the rifle. 243 or 6mm Creedmoor, 257 Roberts, 25-06, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 7-08 would all work. A fiberglass stock will also flex a bit. I'll also recommend you stick with partitions, accubonds or a copper bullet if you can find them in factory ammo for the... -

Elk Don't Exist
I understand. When I go out in the woods with a bow, it's pretty clear that there is a restraining order keeping the elk away from me. 5 days of hard hunting on a ranch, and all that came within a long bow shot of me was seven cows from 60-100 yards for about 20 seconds. Ugh. -

Your Top FIXED blade BH
Technically the Ramcat hydroshock is a replaceable blade head. I have found them to penetrate very well, and cut well, with openings that look like a larger mechanical. They pivot and cut both going in and coming out. The only negative to me.....you should loctite the tiny allen screws as... -

Boot problems
Lathrop and Sons. It'll cost more than standard buy at the outdoor store boots, but my last run of blisters didn't heal for 2 months. Lathrop and Sons boots....no problems at all. I have an odd-shaped pair of feet, too...wide and high, with a narrow heel. -

How Big of a Pack for Daypack and Meat Hauling? Any Suggestions?

Arrow Penetration....
For all we know, the broadhead in the original picture may have come from an arrow that deflected after hitting a branch, and entered off-kilter. I don't place much stock in something like this. -

Not the regular what cartridge poll.
Doesn't the question begin with how you are hunting? There's a different answer if you're sitting on a right shooting at elk on another ridge, versus hanging in the timber. -

Does a slider type sight work for all bow speeds
I shoot 60 lbs with a 26.5" draw length. My Spot Hogg Fast Eddie has a tap good to 100 yards. And I once had a tape good to 130 which is great for the Jamboree or a wounded animal. Have fun. -

Broadhead Choices
Generally, the answers you will get are "what I bought most recently." I like the Ramcats for a fixed 3 blade, and have found recently the Ramcat Hemoshock has been deadly on wild hogs. Reality is, there are a lot of excellent heads out there. -

I've had two outfitters recommend expandables, one even suggesting the Schwacker 261, specifically.
