Low or Med Tally’s for 84M Kimber mountain ascent

For those that have the 84m MA, which one piece Tally mounts are you using, low or Med? I will be mounting a Vx-3HD 1.5-5x20, and would like to go with low, but want to make sure the bolt will clear with low mounts. Thanks in advance. By the way, the stain on the butt stock is not nearly as bad...

Anyone cut&crown their Kimber mountain ascent?

Well, cutting them down is more common than I expected. I think I’ll start at 20” and see how it handles and shoots. I can alway go another inch or two later. Thanks for all the input.

Anyone cut&crown their Kimber mountain ascent?

If I cut and crown I will not be threading it. I agree, shorter is handier. mtwarden, is there a reason you came up with the 19” length, instead of 18 like the Adirondack or the more common 20”.

Anyone cut&crown their Kimber mountain ascent?

I have a used MA in 7mm-08 coming from a Montana store, thanks to a fellow Rokslide member. I’m curious to find out if anyone has cut their barrel down to say 20”, and if so, did it affect accuracy, or make the rifle unbalanced? I really like the Adirondack with the 18” barrel, but very seldom...

WTB Looking for Thread Protector for Kimber MA

I just picked up a used Mountain Ascent in 7mm-08 that has the brake, but is missing the thread protector. I know there was a member here that was machining these, and they were much better looking than the factory one. Does anyone know the members name, or if he is still even making these? If...

    WTB Kimber Mountain Ascent

I would like to give a special Thank you to mt100gr, for supplying me with the name and tel# of the dealer who had the MA in 7mm-08. After inquiring about the rifle, they sent me numerous pictures including any flaws on the rifle. The worst flaw was a couple of stains on the bottom side of the...
