Starting this tread got me thinking and I started looking up outfitters in the Adirondacks. Now, I know they all can't be judged on the first few in a google search, but still, very reasonably priced. Granted, deer density is low and I'm guessing you'll see much more action if you hunt some...
If I'm quick enough with the mouse on July 13, I plan on rifle hunting elk in central Idaho. Now... opening day is Oct. 15, a Thursday. I will certainly be hunting then and through that first weekend.
My question: I have vacation time to take the entire next week off and hunt through Oct. 25...
I've heard and seen videos of fly fishing for steelhead out of Erie and the rest... man, I could get used to that. Yes, you should appreciate what you have. I miss hunting deer in the second growth hardwoods.
Not sure I'm sure what you mean by "Inches = Dollars taking hold"?
I'm a newbie to this site but it seems safe to say the majority of members are westerners and those who want to come out west to hunt. Fair enough. But for those western residents, if you were given the opportunity to go on any hunt (or fishing trip) you want east of the Mississippi, what would...
Don't know if anybody else has one, but I have a Tentipi tent (Safir 9) and I'm looking to buy a wood stove for it. I know about the Eldfell stove, and I'm sure it's awesome, but I just can't afford that. Does anybody else have experience with putting a stove in a tipi style tent like this? I...
Have you reported this to the local Forest Service office, if it is indeed on FS land? It may not be at the top of their list to attend to, but my experience is that they would appreciate you reporting it.
Thanks for the posts everybody. Yes, I can certainly understand permitted outfitters placing camps, they do have a right. Though, people being people, I'm sure some push the boundaries of what is allowed. And for the folks passive-aggressively blocking access at a trailhead or open motorized...
I made the switch to copper bullets several years ago for my 7mmRM, I used to be a devoted nosler partition guy. I've been very pleased with the accuracy and effectiveness on game. Though I grumble a little bit about the price (I shoot factory loads).
Has anybody switched to copper and...
Looking for a new hunting pack headlamp. Prefer ones that don't require a special tool of any kind to change batteries.
In addition to models, what are your thoughts on light color? I see some that have the option to throw green or red light. Do those really make a difference when you're trying...
I see myself as a minimalist, but I would have to say puffy jackets. And I don't know why, I always use the same one at camp or around town. Yet, I look for them everyday on Craigslist.
Wanted to get folk's take on this. On several occasions where I elk hunt in Idaho, I have witnessed hunting camps set up several days, even weeks, prior to opening day of a big hunt but with nobody there. They are always in quality dispersed camp spots and my feeling is they come out the week...
