I love my IA pack. I have one of the first edition 4K. I love it. Used it on a 8 day archery hunt last Sept. and have no complaints. I haven't packed out an elk with it, but it carried 50lbs give/take on our trip easily. I've packed out several quartered out whitetails with it, and it easily...
Here's what I would ditch:
-Extra knife. Get yourself a small, ultralight sharpener instead.
-Crocs. Brought em but never used em.
-Smart water bottle since you're using a bladder.
-Tent stove. Won't need it in Sept.
-Chair. Unnecessary
-Multi Tool. No need, and too much weight.
-Saw. No need...
I drop two 25lb bags of rubber mulch in my pack and it fills it up just right. I do walking lunges, 10-15 trips up and down the high school bleachers, and normal hiking for my workouts. Or sometimes I'll set up my archery target at 40 yds, shoot 2 arrows, and do walking lunges to the target and...
I carry a single lock blade. It's a benchmade along with a small lightweight sharpener. Replaceable blade knives are ok but in my opinion ya can't put much pressure on them.
I agree also that predators are the main culprit. Every morning on my drive to my turkey hunting spots, I saw more coon, possum, skunk than ever before. Low fur prices mean very few trappers. I don't look for this to improve in the near future either.
Franchi Affinity 3 in 12 gauge. Patterns great w/2 3/4” lead 6 shot. Thinking of getting a 20 gauge though. Only reason is to lighten up a bit in the amount of weight I’m carrying in
Take a hard look at the Initial Ascent IK4. The hunt you're going on was essentially the same hunt my son and I did in Colorado 2020. This pack was perfect for 4-5 days. Honestly, I could have squeezed in a couple more days of food and gotten 7 days out of it. It's a great pack and it'll haul...
Any idea why part of the map turns white when I zoom in? When this happens I’m unable to see any terrain features, etc. I’ve tried turning off all layers to see if one certain layer is the culprit with no luck. Only Nebraska and S Dakota do this for some reason
Deleted that garbage 3 years ago, and I'm a much happier person since then. Cut the cord with cable about the same time. We stream all of our TV now, and do not watch any mainstream media either.
Mine aren't loose, I was concerned before I ordered them. I'm tall & slim and can't stand baggy clothing. 6'3", 190lbs, 35" inseam. I order the medium tall, which are perfect fit. My son has a pair of the Obsidians which are actually too loose. Not sure which size he has though. I've found...
