Is there a season to train on wild birds? I'd rather hold off bird intro if there was a chance to put the dog on wild birds. You'll save time and money, and not set the dog back WHEN he catches a farm bird.
Pigeons are great, but you really need launchers
So I'm building out a Tikka T3x Superlite in 300 WM, and thinking of trying this scope on it.
I've shot plenty out to 1000 yards with 10-25 power optics, and killed my only elk at 702 yards at 10x. thought 10x was plenty of magnification at that range.
I'm looking at this for 700 yards in...
32degrees heat has some good deals going. Their UL down puffy is excellent for the price, and very warm. Their poly fill is also a great value.

I'll be heading west in a couple of weeks . Planned on hunting Nebraska for pheasant and sharpies and then on to Idaho or Nevada.
I've got no set plans or schedule, so can bounce around wherever.
Not looking for anyone's place, just curious which state y'all would recommend. I'll put in the...
I've shot them from 6.5 140's on elk to 710, to 7mm 210's? (Having trouble remembering) on whitetail as short as 100.
All DRT, even the elk at 710 with a 6.5
For legit shots at 175" WT, I'd look into either South Arkansas, Louisiana, or Mississippi. Be warned though, there's lot's of 160's running around acting like 175's.
What was I thinking? Behind the Wal Mart in Wynne, AR would be your best bet.
I agree, I've been too light, and accuracy definitely suffers. I've also got plenty of long range 11+ lb rifles, and they're too much for the mountains.
I've found that for hunting accuracy, 10x serves me well out to 700+ yards. I try to get in the 7.5lb range with a high quality 2-10 scope...
