8 man survived sustained winds on the Alaska Delta a few years back. We had every guy out utilized and rocks on top of the stakes. Garmin weather report forecast 70mph and When we came out of the field, that was verified. All came out ok and wouldn't hesitate to ride out another storm like...
My experience is Peak always needs more water than instructions indicate. Stir well initially, and halfway through, then no issues for me. Always have some Peak in my dinner rotation along with other brands and some home made.
Thanks for the heads up. I finally gave up for this season and going with the old gun....nice gun, not enough time to get dialed in between now and the next hunt. Thanks for looking out!
Thanks for the tip on Bunbroker. I'll pay attention to that site. The Browning x-bolt looks like a nice gun.
What kind of accuracy degradation are you seeing with the heavy bullets? I have really liked loading 250's when around bears.
Seekins - this one is new to me. Looks interesting, thanks for the tip
Browning - like this rifle, can't find any in stock anywhere

I am hoping to find some recommendations from the Rokslide community on a new rifle.
I have been hunting with a .338 Win Mag for 30 years and my Remington 700 has seen many miles. I'd like to upgrade the rifle for some planned future Alaska and N Canada hunts as well as Idaho backcountry...

Called in a black bear bluff charged and teeth popping, didn't have weapon other than bow. Brother called in a pack of wolves, circling but ultimately let him walk through. Had mountain lion stalking me.....never had to shoot any of them, but makes you pay attention for sure.
Now carry a...
Many years ago on this site, in a first aid kit thread it was recommended by an EMT to carry prescription pain killers. So....I started carrying 6 left over tabs from a knee surgery. Couple years later, I took a header off a mountain and broke my neck. I was still ambulatory, so didn't know I...
Good for you for pursuing a dream hunt and doing the planning!
If you prefer to be "buddied up" I would definitely find a guide. Finding a buddy that you are compatible with being together hours on end in the wilderness is a long-shot. At least a guide is paid to accommodate you as a hunter...
For the amount of hiking you will need to do to increase your success odds, you'll need much more water/day than I would want to start the day carrying, and I would not want to depend on a life straw for refills. I recommend a real filter system, and my preference is to splice a sawyer filter...
