An old scapula works well for calling moose but IMO nothing beats the Bull Magnet, I run a piece of 550 cord through mine and carry it over my shoulder, if it hits the brush and trees while walking through the woods it won't scare off any moose that are in the area and might actually attract them.

I'd suggest driving up the Dalton and flying in with Brooks Range Aviation, have them pick you up at Grayling lake and fly you in or your could drive up to Galbreath lake and have 70 Degrees North fly you out or whatever other air charter is operating up there. I have a couple of spots that I...
Calling early in the season tends to bring in the younger bulls from my experience so I try to stay away from calling until around the 10th and the later in Sept you hunt the better your odds are of getting a response from a mature bull. I've also called bulls in from camp and have had several...
It's not really that heavy but it is not breathable, most breathable rain gear doesn't work all that well when walking through thigh high brush when it's wet, btdt.
Another huge fan of Impertech from Helly Hanson, it goes every where I go hunting or fishing, the only downfall to Impertech is if you do a lot of hiking you will sweat in them. That said, I still choose it over any other rain gear unless I'm doing a lightweight backpack hunt. I highly recommend...
I use to wear hip boots religiously when hunting moose and did so for over 20 years but switched to the LaCrosse Alpha Burly knee high boots about 6-7 years ago and will never wear hip boot again for hunting moose. Are you doing a float hunt or base camp style hunt?
Edited: I checked the local...
Been using the same rifle for big game for over 30 years, Winchester Model 70 pf in 270 topped with a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5x10x40, panted synthetic stock, running Federal Vital Shok 150 gr Nosler Partitions. It's been a great rifle for me and has taken a lot of game over the years, hope to put...
Since you're a couple of years out, I recommend hiring a hunt planner and more specifically, Larry Bartlett. Nobody knows the rivers and streams in this state better than Larry and he has a pulse on game densities and what kind of pressure to expect. I hired him back in 07 to put a moose hunt...
In the area we hunt, we use binoculars for spotting moose and spotting scopes to determine if they might be legal or not. This method has saved us a lot of miles on the legs over the years. I have a pair of 1042 Swarovski Habicht's in the green rubber camo that I've been using for well over 2...
