I don't think the genetics change, but the amount of certain genetics in a deer herd can change. If everyone shoots 4 point+ deer and passes on 2-3 pointers then the 2-3 pointers become more numerous and therefore pass on more of their genetics. The podcast that rokslide did about antler point...
If the antelope are on to you anything over 50 yards is a guess. They can jump the string so fast if they are locked in. If they aren't on to you then feel free sending it as far as you can ethically shoot
I’ve seen many deer go back to specific areas on specific dates year after year. So yes I would be in that same area on the same general dates as you saw him last year. There was a reason he was there in the first place, there’s a reason for him to go back
No Antelope don't behave anything like deer. While they do have a general core area (couple miles) that they spend their time in, they will move get up and move within that area middle of the day for no apparent reason. And you seeing one out in the middle of nothing is exactly what they like to...
My bow has stayed in a case on the floor of the backseat of my pickup from mid august til the end of hunting season for years and have never had an issue
Did a quick morning scout trip on the 4th, glassed one big valley for an hour. Saw 25ish does and 10 or so fawns. Fawns all looked very healthy, already running around and playing. Seemed to be with the older looking does. The younger looking does all had utters that looked like they have a...
Got my biggest mule deer October 14. He was still with his bachelor group of 8 other bucks that he had been with all summer. Knew where they bedded and we got really high winds (40-50 mph) and was able to sneak in super close for a shot with the bow. They are out there just need conditions to be...
The blind won’t bother the antelope like it would a deer. If it’s really the only water for 2 3/4 miles it would be wise to sit there as much as possible if it’s hot and dry
If the terrain is advantageous then spot and stalk is the way to go. If the antelope aren't in a good spot to stalk just be patient, they will often get up and relocate for no apparent reason. They aren't like a deer that will spend their entire day in the same bed.
Numbers are pretty spotty but...
Jacks fan here, also making the trip down to Frisco. Jacks played a near perfect game against the bobcats, hopefully that carries on against the bison. The jacks seem like the clearly better team, but the bison win so many games that they shouldn’t have you can never count them out. If they...
We have a 9 year old black lab, really good pheasant hunter. Got a flock of 30ish chickens when he was 5, never once have had a problem with him bothering them. He goes in and steals scraps from them and they could care less. It probably just depends on the dog, some will kill them no matter...
The wife has no problem with me hunting as much as I want. Its the little kids at home (2&4) who it bothers. Hearing them say how much they miss you and when are you coming home can really make a guy rethink his priorities
Definitely a sound difference from the bag vs real horns. Like the guy above said, the real horns have a loud crack to them when you first bang them together, hard to achieve that with a rattle bag. I think if you're rattling in areas where sound and deer will cover long distances (prairie type...
Thats awesome, quick thinking using the game bag to draw him in, I will have to remember that. Had a similar situation where I quickly put my bino's on top of my head trying to resemble a buck and it worked, antelope charged in to 25 yards for an easy shot. Wasn't near as big as yours though...
