Is the 200 acres of crops part of a working farm? If it’s just food plots used for deer hunting I’d seriously consider changing it over to bedding/staging areas if your neighbors also have plenty of crops. Then bucks will be on your property during the day and heading to the neighbors at night...
There are whitetails everywhere in the black hills. Park on the side of the road, hike in and see if you find any. If you don't drive to a different place and try it again.
Or just drive around until you see some then hunt that area.
Its a fun tag to have
I don't know man. There's way more people out there with guns in their trucks than a person thinks that would take a mile+ long shot at a coyote without even thinking about it. Personally I would never do that
I don't think you will hurt the area by walking through it and scouting now, there's plenty of time for the deer to return if you bump them. And if it is a really good bedding spot they will definitely be back. Be better to get an understanding for the area now and bump a few deer than to go in...
It wasn't just a bad hunting trip that she killed the dog for. She said after the bad hunting trip the dog escaped and went to a neighbors and killed a bunch of chickens. Then when she tried to pull the dog off the chickens it turned around and bit at her.
Not saying it was right or wrong...
I've taken 8 or so antelope with a rifle, all have been shot sitting at less than 200 yards. The area I hunt has a lot of terrain so it is great for that style. I could see if you are hunting very flat terrain with short vegetation where shooting prone would be necessary. Maybe take this into...
Both places are pretty much the same. If your not looking for a giant you'll have a fun hunt and get in a few stalks. Don't overlook "small" public areas. And as others have said, you can truck camp and walk into every place you'll hunt without a problem, no need to tent back in the country
Mid/late December would be better than thanksgiving in my opinion. Rifle deer season will be over and you will have substantially better luck getting permission to hunt private land
Well Albany beat Idaho the week before, same Idaho team that beat Mt St and lost by 2 to the griz. So to say they wouldn’t be within 14 of either of those teams seems like a stretch
SDSU didn’t play sharp against the Bobcats early in the season. Just like the griz weren’t good against NAU early in the season. If sdsu plays as good as they did against Albany it will be a 21+ point win. Only way Montana keeps it close is if the rabbits have an off game
E-scouting is a good tool but won't show you what the activity on the land was this past year cattle wise. You can find some good areas and you can find areas that would have potential but if cattle were in there all summer there won't be much cover left for deer. Western SD did have a very good...
Any reason you have to be in the stand? Could you hunt from the ground to get the wind in your favor? I hunt from the ground a ton without using a blind just whatever natural cover is available, works great and you can be very mobile in your locations
