My College roommate was getting married after we all graduated so 4 of us took a trip to Canada for geese and ducks. It’s a good hunt where you can visit and cut up the whole time as a group. Definitely a good time.
I always just put Nitrile gloves over the top of my merino wool (liner) gloves. Not sure that would work in sub zero temps, I don't think I've processed game at less than 20 or so like this......seems like a fire is necessary at those temps!
Listening to his story, it sounds like he was in the same exact place you are in earlier in his life. Housing market crashed, couldn't recruit tenants and couldn't sell houses; he then had to file bankruptcy. His new philosophy is one with less risk.

This same thing came up last year as a guy from
Farmington shot a moose up near Silverton. It was close to dark and all he saw was a dark chest and antlers. Turned himself in. CPW said then that they get nearly a dozen "accidental" moose kills every year.
I replaced a factory remington barrel last year with a carbon six and it ended up costing me right at $1000. I had to buy go/no-go gauges, barrel wrench, and barrel clamp. It was a fun project and it shoots well!
