The small base on the Vanish doesn't worry me. I am 5'10" 170 and size 9.5 and my climber base and other lock ons are 24"x18" and those aren't an issue, even in late December and January with large boots on.

Thanks for all the input guys. Going to try and get my hands on and XOP Vanish this weekend and hopefully some sticks in time for late season. Probably the XOP sticks as well.

I have. I typically don't bring my climber seat and just hug the tree to climb unless it's an all day sit anyway so I don't mind standing. Just not sure if that's the direction I want to go yet.

Gotten to the point where I'm sick of having to compromise what tree I am sitting in because of carrying a climber. It's legal to leave a lock on public land in Wisconsin now but there's no way I'm risking that.
Weight and smaller footprint are way more important than comfort to me. I really...
I'm a whitetail guy from Wisconsin and did my 2nd backpack elk hunt last month and will be going back every year for the foreseeable future so I'm in the same boat.
Spend the money on a good pack and good boots. Buy used if you can. Also if you already have a tent that will work or get a...
Check out The Hunting Public on YouTube. They do some interesting stuff hunting bedding areas on the ground. Always done this rifle hunting but going to start doing it with the bow as well.

I run the same one when ice fishing with the kids, works very well. They put out a ton of heat though, I wouldn't want anything flammable within 2 feet of the top or in front of it. Just not sure if you will be able to set it up safely in there. And as mentioned earlier it will be F'ing hot in...
I also had really good luck with the Rav 26000 charger. Weighs in at 19 oz. I believe. Also cannot recommend camp shoes enough, I brought mine on my day hunts with me even to give my feet a break during lunch or glassing if I needed.

It's still really high, flew into Denver in January and rented a car to run up to steamboat for 4 days and it was over $350. The extra money was worth the convenience for me with a 6 am departing flight.

I run the AGC Kiss and 95% of my bow hunting is from a stand for whitetails and I really like it. My 10x42 mavens are a touch snug but easy to get in and out quietly. I have tried my brothers marsupial gear and really liked it as well until the lid slipped on me a few times

Just caught this for the first time. From Oconto Falls just north of Green Bay. Not much time to get together to hike or shoot anymore this year, 19 days and counting!

I would be another vote for the 44 mag. I have a Ruger 10/44 carbine that was given to me by my great grandfather when I was 12 and it's still my deer rifle when hunting in Wisconsin. Good out to at least 125.

Cody Rich had a podcast with Kevin Wallenfang, one of the ecologists working on the elk herd. Pretty good listen and explains a lot about the herd growth and issues they've had.
I feel good about my chances, 1:9500 was a lot better than I thought it would be. If nothing else it's another $10...
Practice whenever you're in your truck by yourself. It'll help keep the peace at home and you get a lot of calling time in.
I also really dig the Amp frames, seem to fit me best from all the kinds I've tried. Especially partial to the white and grey.
Sounds like Wisconsin. This winter had a guy watching me and my 3 year old catch Perch through his bino's and proceed to pull his permanent shack 10 yards from us and start punching holes. Then after an hour of not catching anything had the balls to walk over and ask what we were doing to catch...
Hahaha, especially the big walleyes one. Nobody wants to learn how to fish they just ask where you are and what you're using. Followed up by if you can send them waypoints.
