My Christensen FFT 7 PRC with is all over the place with Hornady ELD-X. With Federal its MOA. With some reload testing with 175 Bergers, 175 ELD-X and Nosler 160 Accubonds it does better than MOA.
Bought a Christensen Arms Ridgeline FFT at EuroOptic a while back in 7mm PRC. Couldn't be happier with the rifle. With Federal 175 ELD-X its and MOA rifle with some reloads it will do better. With a 22" barrel and the 7" suppressor it still remains light and don't seem barrel heavy when carrying...
Maybe dead maybe not. I for sure would be going back to the area and watch for crows, ravens or buzzards. Found a bull in New Mexico several years ago that I hit in the front shoulder. About 6-8 inches of arrow penetration. Had a lot of blood at first after 100 yds or so it slowed and finally I...
A friend of mine had a heart attack in 2018, had 2 stents put in. Doctor told him to return to his normal lifestyle immediately. He does not hunt but is a very active guy that does a lot of hiking and mountain biking. He is around 70 now and says he feels great and feels the heart attack with...
I prefer a handheld GPS over OnX on a phone. I use both but have had many glitches with OnX. I still carry a compass and topo map I know I can rely on.
Also heading to Wyoming in a couple days for a fill your freezer cow elk hunt. Looking at advanced weather its gonna be hot. Lucky for me the rancher has a walk in cooler. This is a just a fun hunt to get geared up for a late season bull elk hunt.
There are many good COC broadheads. I prefer the NAP Hellrazor or Montec G5. Lighter poundage setups benefit from the COC design with better penetration. My grandson will be hunting this year with his compound set at 40 lbs using a 100 gr Montec G5.
2022 Colorado Elk shot with a Federal 180 gr. 300 mag. Trophy bonded tip. Same bullet they rebranded it a Terminal Ascent. 5x5 bull quartering away 232 rangefinder measured yards. On the shot bull dropped kicked a few times and expired. Bullet recovered just under the hide on the opposite...
I carry a folding Spyderco on my pocket but since I always have a fanny pack or backpack my fixed blade knife along with saw and misc. butchering gear are in the pack.
I tried some Nosler E Tip in my 300 mag. Groups didn't look quite like buckshot but none the less I could not find a load that suited me at all. Now the Barnes TTSX was a different story with sub MOA groups. I personally prefer the Nosler Accubonds for Elk and Moose over the all copper bullets.
A good pellet gun would be my choice for garden rabbits. Quiet and cheap ammo. You can purchase one almost anywhere with no background check and many of them are in the 1200 fps range which is close to many 22 long rifle rounds.
Moose are not all that hard to kill if you put a bullet in the correct place. I have used both the 200 Federal T/A and the 180 Federal Trophy Bonded Tip successfully on Moose. A Nosler Accubond is never a bad choice also. I would lean toward a bonded bullet and let your rifle decide which one...
