Well done!!! To get the job done on a buck of that caliber is impressive (not to mention the long hot days…not easy). Great seeing big Idaho bucks

Two different questions…
#1) If you already have good glass (for ex: older Swaro SLC 10x42 bino’s and Swaro ATS 65mm spotter), and were looking to upgrade, would you choose the new NL pure bino’s or a BTX spotting scope? This would be based on your style of hunting, conditions, terrain, etc...
Just a buddy heater and a couple propane burners I use for cooking.
Nothing like the heat from a wood burning stove but I really like how clean propane burns…especially over long hunts

Hi all,
I have a Tikka 300 Win Mag and have been shooting the Barnes TTSX 165gr bullets for quite a few years with excellent accuracy and performance. Unfortunately, the supply is gone and I only have 24 rounds left so I recently found and bought some Sig Sauer 165gr elite copper hunter (non...
In G a lot of that country can be accessed in a 3-5 mile hike and depending upon your legs less than 4 hr hike. This would be both the Salt and Greys side. There are good bucks throughout that country…in deep and just just above the trailheads.
H lays out the same in some areas but other areas...
I love the method you used to find the buck and being able to get the job done when in tight…. definitely not easy to do. Nice buck and excellent job in stringing together big bucks on a consistent basis.

Thanks for the comments everyone!
And good to see some Vandals on this site…5 yrs experience hunting whitetails on the timbered slopes of the Palouse (with a hangover) probably helped me on this hunt.

I was fortunate to scout up a great Idaho buck this summer and get him on opening day of the General Idaho rifle deer hunt.
He lived in thick, difficult country to hunt with limited vantage points to get open angles. Prior to the season I only saw him 1 out of 7 days but on opening morning….it...
Hey Ryan Avery
Just catching up to your post...I really can’t disagree with anything you said.
I don’t know why long-range hunting rubs me the wrong way but it does. I know some very good hunters and also some very good shooters but have yet to meet someone that is a great hunter AND a...
Can’t say I’m impressed with that hunt, in fact it was terrible to watch. I’ve been on Rokslide for a long time and this wasn’t a good look.
You could and should have done better than that. You tried to help yourself with the voice over but in the end it didn’t cut it for me. Poor judgement...
Here’s a buck I just took with a rifle. First found him in July during a scouting trip along with another 180 type buck and a mystery buck I saw that seemed to have really good potential with quite a bit of growing left. To make a long story short, after 15 days of scouting, and not being able...
I think you’re right.
There are some areas I’ve hunted where I think you have a better chance at shooting a 7 yr old two pt than a 180 buck. Then every now and then that same area will produce freak giant.
