I personally drive a 2024 z71 2500 crew gas 6.6L and I like it thus far. I would prefer a Tacoma for trail bouncing! Anyways I Have a fleet of 30+ Chevy/gmc 2500/3500 pickups and I prefer gas generally speaking. Pulling a heavy trailer i prefer the feel of a diesel all day. However reliability...
I have the chillkoot 15 deg. Just returned from a trip and I was warm every night. Lowest temp 25 deg. I have tested this bag to 15 and it could go way further if you added your puffy clothes. A zero degree bag might be a bit much if your temps aren’t cold enough and you like to be zipped up. As...
6.5 creed tikka cut to 18” with ss pro 4 brake. Maven RS 1.2 and UM lows mounted to factory rail. Rokstok arca/pic on a Leofoto tripod. Shooting Hornady ELDM 147. (8.1lbs)
Garmin chronograph 2482 fps avg.
Around 1800fps at 600 yards.
Moved scope so I finished zeroing today. Dialed and knocked...
Tried a few darn tough and liked them. Didn’t love them however.. I prefer “Farm to feet” Damascus socks for hunting/life. I currently use Feetures merino ultra for running/shorts wearing. I am a sock snob who tested many before settling on these. My 2c..
Hopefully this helps...
I use a SG Chilkoot 15 and it is all of the 15 degree rated and more. I am also a side sleeper and get by fine with it. Full disclosure I have not used a quilt though.. best of luck. Lots of reviews to search and find on here.
I use a SG 15 Chilkoot for colder weather hunts and layer clothing accordingly. If that wasn’t in my budget and I was looking for cheap but not to die I would look at the Marmot trestles 15 synthetic.
The pad is where I would try not to skimp.. thermorest nxt lite is what I would buy if money...
I would just pay the extra $200 and get the maven RS1.2 ffp 2.5-15. Read the reviews on here it’s worth the money for a reliable scope with a good reticle. If you want a spf I understand the trijicon credo is a fair scope under 1000.
Quake claw. Sticks to your shoulder and doesn’t dig in because of rubber pad. I actually just got a new one today with qd for my rokstok. I will note my shoulders aren’t the greatest from injuries so I baby them..
I also use chopper mitts. Mine have inner finger groves for cold hunts. Leather cones with a weight penalty. Kuiu just had there superdown glomit on sale for $90. Someday I will fork over the money..
My lug was a tight fit so I made sure it lined up up and started the screws slowly back and forth between the two and it clunked into place. Not saying that is the way.. just saying that is how it went down if that helps anyone.
Easy button options that you won’t regret-
Rifle- is tikka 6.5cm.
Ammo- hornady eldm or x 147 or 143
Rings- Mountain tech or UM direct to rail
Scope-Maven rs1.2 mil 2.5-15, SWFA 3-9hd, trijicon tenmile 3-18. Look up drop testing for more if you want sfp options.
This is what I use and is a...
It really all depends on budget. However follow the “buy once cry once” rule on main items such as firearm, optics, pack, etc.

I shot my new rokstok today. A roughly 1” 10 shot group to begin. Then shot out to 500 on silhouette targets with tripod and prone on a bag. Needed to wear earbuds instead of muffs.. No big deal as it handled like a dream. Medium rings might help head placement with muffs idk.
I think I will...
Look what showed up..
Took 5-10 mins to mount and a small dremel job for the bottom plastic to seat. I ordered standard barrel cut thinking I could modify later if needed. Might swap the rings to med from lows. See how it shoots/feels today.
