Supplements worth your money and time

Other than creatine I dont use much, I will supplement protein occasionally but really its not that hard to hit the 1g per lb number just eating meat for me but I do an 80-90% carnivore diet anyway. Attia and Huberman did an episode together not that long ago on supplements and Attia's...

    General Fitness Preparation vs CrossFit

While there might not be a ton out there on ideal fitness for mountain hunting there is a ton of info on ideal fitness for mountaineering which seems quite directly applicable. "Training for the Uphill Athlete" and "Training for the New Alpinist" are good reads on the topic.

    Rucking Gear Question

For what those go-ruck packs cost you can get another decent pack. Personally I use my older Eberlestock X2 for rucking. Its filled with sand bags (sand measured into ziplocks and then wrapped in duct tape) 5lbs each so I can tweak my level of weight. I also do use it as a hunting day pack...

Drinking Nothing but Water for a Full Year

Agree that weather you can fall asleep or not caffein impacts sleep architecture and quality. I generally drink 2 cups of coffee per day and never after 10:00 am. A solid 10-12 hours before bed time negates most though not all of the impacts. I have gone extended periods of time (like a few...

    which one to build

The 270 is a 22 inch barrel, if I do the 300wm I will likely cut it to 22 or 24. The 270 is also feather weight contour so it will be a tad lighter even if I chop the other one but I figure with matching stock and optics its still pretty close to the same.

    which one to build

Putting in an order for 2 Rokstocks (though I know wait will be awhile) and getting a pair of Mavin RS 1.2s. I figure I want them set up basically the same to serve as back up for each other with the 270 being my primary whitetail gun and the other being the primary western gun but each able to...

    which one to build

I am leaning toward building on one of these not necessarily because its the most sensible approach but because I wont sell them for sentimental reasons and they are not getting used now. I could buy new and keep these as safe queens but if I can get similar results for similar cost building off...

    5 pin vs Single pin

Yea I am with you on not loving the hold over. I dont really need to from around 10-33 with my one pin but a second one at 40 would be really nice. I for sure get the appeal of a 3 or 5 pin though, honestly not sure what my next bow will end up with.

    which one to build

Yea that is the other option. I likely wont sell either as they were gifts from my dad but a new T3x is the other option I have been toying with.

    which one to build

Yea makes sense, the right answer will be grouping them and doing whichever one performs better. I do plan to restock and new optics, I do not plan to add a break or a suppressor. The 7mm barrel I would leave as is, the 300 I might shorten to 22 or 24, I just dont like 26 inch barrels that...

    5 pin vs Single pin

I shoot a single pin set around 27 which keeps me real solid from point blank out to around 33. I shoot at 40 enough to know the holdover for that as well and thats about my limit for shot distance around here. If I were in the market for a new sight though I would likely get a 2 pin slider and...

    Your favorite hunting knife?

I ordered an MKC speed goat and a Sharptailed this year. I love the sharptailed, its fine as a bird knife though you dont really need much for upland birds. I also used it to field dress, skin, and break down a whitetail and it did a super good job at that. It was getting a touch dull right at...

Kent Bismuth issue - always verify what you’re purchasing.

Yea thats disappointing if you got the wrong shot size. I wonder if the shot size was off or if marketing was off?

    which one to build

I have primarily hunted with a M70 270 featherweight with a zeiss conquest 3-9 for years. Largely white tails in MN and WI. I am getting to where I can take more time off work and will spend more time doing this and also hope to get out west for Elk and Mulies at some point. I am also just...

    First hunting rifle question

Great caliber capable of doing most things well and without bad recoil. You will want a full length stock, so many people here take them off they are easy to come by. Take weiser bucks offer.

    2025 Hoyt’s

I am just getting back into bow hunting after a several year break. I assumed bows had likely advanced a ton based on the regular improvements I recalled from the late 90s and early 2000s. I was surprised just how similar new bows are to my carbon matrix from 2010. They have improved but nearly...
