    Careers

I just retired after 32 years as a big city fireman, well chief at the later part, but it was the most rewarding, enjoyable career anyone could ever hope for. I got off and looked forward to going back. Really, I never felt like I was going to work. Even as Chief, with all the 24/7 365...

Truck / SUV suited for Snowy Icy Roads

Fallon is NOT Truckee. YOU aren’t driving the roads when it dumps, because you can’t get there, but we are. Either way, Subaru is a great vehicle on slippery roads. Much better options when it dumps. I also found the Subaru to be the most comfortable vehicle I ever owned.

Truck / SUV suited for Snowy Icy Roads

And I had a Subaru for one season, so I speak from my experience in deeper snow. Sold it and bought a 4runner. That is a great vehicle for everything.

This exactly. Those who love Subarus don’t use them where it really snows. They great in 6”. They are useless in 18”.

    Defrost for UTV without heater?

I have to ask. What is the point of a windshield if you open it or take it off when it’s cold in the morning? That’s the entire reason I even have one. Carry a shower squeegee to clear it frequently if you don’t want a heater. Better yet, put the heater/defrost in. You won’t regret it when...

Are the any Ski Areas left out West that havent been ruined?

I guess it depends on what you are looking for in terrain. Just want to ski a few runs, plenty of small places fit the bill. Are you an expert skier and want/need big mountain terrain, steep couloirs, cliffs and steep sustained pitches, then no, there is no place that isn’t overpriced and...

    Schnee’s Quality Control Issues?

There is a lot of stitching on the tongue, which is fabric and leather. They had a run of boots in 2021 with this issue. If you look at the timberline vs kestrel, the tongue assembly is quite different. I hope they improve the design, as I really liked the boot..
