He keeps the WOD thread alive from what I have seen. An athlete and an all around nice guy! Will do more of a deep dive on his articles moving forward!
For most applications I use lever guns for Red Dots meet the need. I run Vortex/Holosun Red Dots depending on rifle and if I want donut of death or dot only.
I used to be a huge Danner acolyte, but the past pair of mountain 600's I got started squeaking after less than 100 trail miles. Just one boot. When I called them they said it is just the wear on the boots.
I don't have any recommendations beyond what others have said - but I no longer...
My firearms conversation with people I don't know is "Don't Ask Don't Tell". Once I am friends with somebody if they bring it up I weight my decision from there. So some friends I have never told and known them for years - other people I just met may know, but I never start the conversation.
I trade back and forth between a couple pistols:
P365xl w/Underwood xtreme penetrators in a hill people chest rig when I am trail running or in National Parks
10mm 1911 with 220gr HardCast in Gunfighters Kenai chest holster for wilderness and hunting
On the Tiger/Grand Ridge/Squak trail systems recently I have seen 6 different bears (one group was a set of mom and 2 cubs) between 600 to 1000 feet elevation.
Only Tiger is huntable by non-high powered rifle, but with season opening in under 2 weeks do with the elevation information what you will.
And it seems to be pretty good range for Desert Bighorn and Mule Deer.
I wonder if not paying for grazing rights are the only things going on in that area, or if there happens to be some "extra harvest" from grazing operations and irrigation ditches dug there.
My wife and I are into "FIRE" and it has been good and also bad.
I'm currently under 40 and plan to retire at 55. We've technically reached "FI" but "RE" is a different part of the equation. We also set a retirement number but each milestone we hit that number gets bigger.
Until I turn 40...
Not specifically shoes - but I have recently started using quick lock style laces instead of the regular laces that came with my shoes and it seems like a game changer.
IDK if it is percieved or real but it also feels like some shoes feel more comfortable with the quick lock laces instead of...
My son is old enough that he has transitioned to 1 long nap - so I can't push him in the stroller for my lunch runs during the week.
I never thought I'd be sad I'm not pushing a stroller up-hill and running on pavement. But it has been a tough week since we started making the transition.
I was supposed to do 7 miles worth of 3/4 mile trail repeats today but I bumped a little black bear on the trail.
Since he wasn't moving more than a couple feet off the trail I decided to just head home and let him be.
4 miles of running with 2 fast intervals and then just nice easy pace home...
Oh dude. I do 10 push-ups each time a "new person" pings me. After I hit 100 pushups I switch to 5 push-ups and 1 pull up.
At least busy days are helping me stay in good shape.
When I am in calls at work where I can mostly zone out I will do weighted step ups a few times a week.
Generally I just go til my legs feel heavy go back to my desk and then when I can breathe normally again I do it all over again.
Work from home has been the best thing for my fitness since...
I try to be "marathon ready" at all times. I get in 30ish running miles a week. At least half of those miles trail running.
Long runs in the 10-15 miles range, but often paired with a hike (with a toddler I carry in a pack) the same day in the summer or skiing in the winter. Other daily runs...
10 mile run
7.5 miles hike (3,092 elevation gain) with toddler in backpack
My legs will be in recovery mode for the next few days. I was also so worn out I only did the first 2 sets of my normal pushup/curl/situp routine.
It sounds like a bunch of people have found methods he teaches that help them perform better. I think lots of people have good methods that you can leverage - but as soon as someone drinks too much of the koolaid it spells disaster.
I'm intrigued by the fastest barefoot half marathon. He used...
