I like the black glove idea. I will have to use that one, thanks! We also have filled a few tags sitting at wire crossings. The last Nebraska antelope I took, looked liked a Mt. Lion had raked his back, as he had spent so much time crossing under the fence.
I love hunting WY and NE. But NM is the place I want to goat hunt.
I actually have 7 or 8 points for WY and need to start planning. As I would like to use those in 2022.
My son picked up a Fierce in 7mm mag and I am impressed. I was set to get the Weatherby mk5 accumark but his Fierce has muddied the waters for me. It will be one or the other. My son rifle does shoot under the .5 guarantee they have. I get skeptical of things like that, but most of the...
Nice pictures! Sadly you are correct, it is a dying tradition. Use to trap when I was younger and actually ran a pretty large line. Sure do miss those days.
We have shot them with a 25-06, 243, 6.5x55 and 270's. My son took his best at 493 yards with his 6.5x55. Your 6.5 will definitely get the job done. With that, the 25-06 is my personal flavor.
Bolt guns. I do carry an AR in 223 when we are calling river bottoms, as it's usually close and fast shooting. Also always a chance for a bobcat in there, so I like the idea of the 223 vs 22-250 at that point.
For a budget hunting scope, I have had great results with the Burris Fullfield II. I have upgraded most my rifles optics the last 5 years to higher end glass, but with that, my Burris Fullfields IIs and Weaver Classics were left on rifles. The Weaver is no longer available.
At $700, I'd second going used. I like the recommendation of the Athlon Ares and would also add a used Leopold HD-5 3-15x44 or Meopta Meostar R1. Regarding the Midas Tac, I have no first hand experience with that one, but do know one guy that uses one at our club and all he has ever said...
Regarding eastern Wyoming, I would check into the winter kill. Nebraska has been hit hard this winter and I would assume eastern Wyoming has had their share as well. It would be worth looking into, whatever unit you decide to hunt. I have hunted NE Wyoming many times and there are a decent...
